You’re edges process even faster because they’re much thinner than the rest of your hair. I've had mine platinum/ash blonde twice before, once at the salon, once at home. They came out the same and I'll be doing mine again soon. I use the same products, and a 30V (I have thick hair). My biggest tips here are to do a hot oil or deep conditioner treatment on your last wash if you can, and during this time do a porosity test on a few strands of your hair. This will help determine the level of volume and lift you'll need to achieve. When you apply the bleach, start at your ends and work your way up as evenly and quickly as possible. DO NOT scrub it into your scalp like a shampoo, this will damage your scalp and it'll burn if you've got any scratches on it already. For aftercare, I'd suggest Olaplex bonding treatment. It helps put the cuticle back where it belongs and seals the color in. It's really good for your hair after a bleaching. I'd also suggest immediately after doing a hair mask or cream deep conditioning to put moisture back into your hair. And obviously use purple/blue shampoo or products meant for blondes. Soo... hot oil/porosity test --> start at the ends when applying products --> DON'T SCRUB! --> hair mask/deep condition --> Olaplex and purple stuff. I hope this helps anyone trying to save that $200+ at the salon!

@amberhinson38674 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Question, who does the porosity level mean in relation to the level of volume and lift?
@bytesizedx4 жыл бұрын
@@amberhinson3867 I'm not a stylist, but iirc it's basically lower porosity = longer times to leave the developer in and a higher vol bleach whereas high porosity = less time developing (and you CAN use a lower vol bleach). So if you have fine, high porosity hair you may want to use a 20vol and leave it in for
@imafrloser83084 жыл бұрын
@@bytesizedx hii im kinda scared to bleach my hair, i have 4c but should i moisturize it first? or just go in and can i shampoo after?
@bytesizedx4 жыл бұрын
@@imafrloser8308 I would definitely do a deep conditioner treatment before bleaching (use a plastic cap and foil to heat up condish). I like the Hask brand hair masks and Cantu has really affordable products as well. When you do this, I'd also do the porosity test. You may have thick hair but it can still be high porosity, and therefore you won't have it process for as long. You can do this by taking a strand of hair and putting it in a room temp glass of water. You can Google the results but basically floats/sinks slowly=low porosity and vice versa. I'd also use a conditioning shampoo when you wash, both before and after bleaching. I hope this helps! Don't forget to grab plenty of toner too! I love Wella brand for my hair (v low porosity, thick, coily 3c/4a)

My mom has 4a/4b hair and I got her into using the Shea moisture low porosity line from target and her hair is always moisturized and very soft. I figured she had low porosity because she said her hair takes forever to dry. However, since you bleached it, the high porosity line, also at target, is the way to go, but I definitely recommend it for keeping your hair moisturized. My moms hair also used to have a dry rough feeling until I taught her how to take care of her hair. I’m type 3 but I’ve been doing a lot of research into coily hair since last year.

Rough or dry all the same thing. I completely understand. Managing natural hair is really difficult and high maintenance. The only thing that keeps my hair from being dry is olive oil but it breaks my skin out all the time. I stopped using it and been trying other things. Most thing tend to just sit on top on my hair instead of keep it moisturized. Anyways, your hair looks great! I just bleached mines! I’m going for a strawberry blonde color. I assume when you say your hair is rough, you mean it literally. It's extremely thick AND coarse so it's work to comb. My hair is mostly the same way but I bleached and colored my hair so I do feel like my curls are softer when wet now. My trick before that was that I never combed my hair at all unless it was soaking wet. The only time it's soaking wet is when I wash it. And since it's less manipulation this way, I have less breakage too
