I had a phone interview today at 1330pm. I took a day off, practiced for a week, took a shower, cleaned my house. I was relaxing. Then, 15 minutes before my interview my firealarm started to make a sound😂😢. I have to do my interview in my backyard in 95 heat, with bird singing. I cant hardly hear the questions. 😅😢 Oh well.

I just bombed mine a couple weeks ago. One of the most weird and hollow sentiments you can feel, it can make you start thinking very little about yourself. Anyways, nice video and yeah...you just need to overcome those feelings and keep trying, you need to make sure that you never, ever, make the same mistakes again. Keep learning, keep working and eventually it'll come at the right time, the right job, at least that's what makes me keep going. Thanks

Literally destroys your self esteem 😩 omg it’s crazy how nerves can cause your brain to just go blank. Shout out to this man for sharing his bombing experience!! I should make a video on mine lolol didn’t help that there were FOUR hiring managers in the meeting 😭 and they were sooooo cold right off the bat. Didn’t ask how I was, say hello, just introduced themselves and went right into HARD questions. Jeeeezlaaaweez

i'll probably remember today for the rest of my life, I bombed my interview extremely hard, it was for a react native role, and I worked for over 300+hrs in js working with react and react native, i couldn't reverse a fking line of string in the interview.

It’s really comforting to know that the people we learn from have made similar mistakes. I’ve definitely had some rough interviews and some good ones. Just waiting for the one that clicks!

Thanks for this. Really. I've been doing PowerShell scripting for the past 7 years and just bombed an interview asking stuff I've literally not touched. It was embarrassing.

You're not alone man. Had an IT interview on a subject I was confident and experienced on. ...They asked questions about each and every piece of ESXi that I didn't know. I just wanted to walk out at a certain point lol.

I had an interview for my first dev job recently. The Last stage was this morning. Didn’t have a single technical question!! I’m so blessed. I got the job too. I’m not gonna move. I was a late adopter to your channel but thanks for making es6 videos it’s building my confidence and helped me get comfy with react and stuff. Just doing my rounds telling all the relevant content creators that I follow

Lmaoo I just bombed my interview it was a peer interview & I knew my info but I only knew what one of the interviewers looked like so when the other one popped up on the screen first ngl they made me nervous. They looked like someone I’ve talked to from my past so It was like I felt nervous having them stare at me & then I was trying too hard to appear calm/cool. It’s okay though I’ve def learned from this. Keep the same confidence & demeanor regardless on who is interviewing you. Don’t be phased by the person.

I’ve had exactly the same experience. I studied Computer science and was exactly in the same situation like you. After my graduation I’ve been working as Ad technology Manager. Then after two years I tried to change my job to a developer within the company. Everything went well until my technical interview. I absolutely failed😅 I am now trying to develop myself further besides work so that one day I will be ready for the next technical interview 💪😄

Hey James just found your channel keep up the good work! I can attest to what you were saying along with many of my friends that I went to school with. I went to school to get grades and show I know how to get the answers but not entirely understand what I'm learning. I would say I had some regrets for not 'learning better' but the reality is school is a lot of work and you are learning so many things so fast to where it's hard to really comprehend everything. What I learned from my computer engineering experience was that I left with more questions than answers, computers are so complex and people spend their whole career on making the most efficient adder, so much material to learn in such little time. School is more of a trophy to show you can put in the hard work and accomplish what needs to be done rather than saying you've become a master.

Hey James, I can totally relate with you on this one. I've bombed SEVERAL technical interviews, and sometimes I feel I'm shooting myself on the foot for being honest, but I'm not one for making up answers on the fly (I'm sure they'll consider me a worse developer or professional by doing so). On the other hand, I'm trying to share what I know but I feel shy about uploading videos. Any suggestions on how to defeat it? I feel ugly and dumb, but people who have attended my personal talks and courses have asked for more material.

Sometimes I appreciate and learn more from a teacher/presenter if they are not super smooth and polished. In some way the passion shows through more and they are more approachable. I have done some presentations at technical meetups (before Covid) where I was 100% NOT the smartest or most knowledgeable guy in the room. Regardless, the feedback was very positive and I received multiple requests to come back and present on more topics, (which I did). Go for it! You will find an audience that connects with you and will benefit from what you have to share.

Your education failed to prepare you for interviews. It's definitely embarrassing but it used to be impossible to go online and find out what sorts of questions your interviewer would ask for a software engineering position. The only way to figure out what to know was through trial and error.
