Its weird how geography affects whats cheap and what isn't. I have no idea where to get e-waste in my area, at least the places that do ebay / craigslist etc are pretty savvy, and its rarely a big saving. Hardware (screws / bolts) can also be really expensive, especially if they're metric... everything is expensive if its metric. I bought 6 8mm linear rods and it cost me the majority of the budget for my first delta printer, I would now use 2020. The electronics are really cheap here. RAMPS 1.5 + Arduino Mega is about $30. A 32 bit board can be as little as $20. 5 new Nema 17 are about $30, 5 Pololu Drivers are $10. 2020 extrusion is about $80 for 10 meters (with shipping) but for your project I suspect you'd only need a couple of meters. I recently found out that you can get really cheap, good quality carbon fiber shafts in the states because of bow hunting! I just went the the gun club and picked up 30 or so "broken" arrows, that are now liberated as robot bones. Great project. I'm excited to see how good the one you print with this one will be.

Thanks a lot - this project has been in the works for a while. In india too it's hard to find e-waste that's usable for projects like this - things like stepper motors are just ripped open for copper because people don't know what else to do with them. For me, i honestly just ask neighbors and small offices near me - they're always throwing stuff out and if you offer to pick it up they'll be happy to give it to you. Nuts and bolts are ridiculously expensive here too - i found a work around though. By using aluminium angle you can completely avoid t-nuts (very expensive) and use regular 4mm bolts from a hardware store - they're often used in construction in switch plates of houses. For the base i used wood screws - honestly you need like 10 I'm sure you can find some lying around. And for the M3 bolts for the NEMA 17s - i just used the ones used in the printers i extracted them from :) I do have extras though, some fancy door handles use them for mounting and a local hardware store has some. Cut them down to length and you'll be good. Open source versions of the Arduino and ramps and LCD produced locally in india cost nothing - 1500 rupees in total - around 20$ for all 3. Skip the LCD and you can get that down to 950 rupees - 13$ The A4988 drivers are about a dollar a piece. I am a huge fan of Massimo Banzi and his work so I try to buy original Arduinos but if you're on a budget - a "freeduino" will work just fine. The carbon fibre bows thing is a genius idea - I'll have to look into that. For your delta printer - look into IGUS style bearings - there are designs for printable versions on thingiverse and in my next printer I'll print PLA bushings instead of spending a 1000 rupees (13$) on just bearings. In total 11 PLA bushings will cost me about 20 (0.27$) rupees to print. Lastly - for shafts - i remember when i visited the states last, home depot kept hollow steel piping - around 12mm diameter - you could try using that with larger custom PLA bushings. Hope this helps :)
