Thank you for the kind words. I wish I was able to get my video out earlier! Life got busy. 9ft is going to be the safe minimum if you want to hit driver. Especially if you don’t raise your hitting area like in my setup. Some get away with 8.5’ but I’ve never been comfortable in short simulators. If I wasn’t able to hit driver I think I’d be just as happy though. I play a lot of par 3 courses because it keeps me from getting tired after 2-3 rounds and I can play from 6400 yds with just a hybrid off tee. My ceiling is vaulted starting at 8ft. Projector is mounted at just over 8.5 ft and where the club travels has at least 9.5 feet. Did you end up buying a LM or did you pretty much give up for now? There’s so many options for budget sims. You can even do something similar to me but without gspro and a gaming pc and save yourself another $1500.

So i avoided it. Never had a coach or anyone to teach me things like grip or other fundamentals.(was doing opposite using palms etc) Gpop played for fun and started me young just couldnt afford private lessons.. Thank God for him and the keeping it fun never serious or id probably hated it. Never knew my practice swings be perfect. Then I go crazy over top when hitting ball. I felt it and would say it but took me seeing recording of self to have it pointed out. Thousands of range balls and "youtube lessons" have got me to the point I can now see/feel my mistakes. In way I never could before. Last couple range trips i hit irons legit first time in my life. Never felt compression like it before. Driver is finally straightened out and showing i have some power. Always loved golf but thought I just didn't have it.. Golf was always my favorite. But now this is fun like I've never had golfing before. I wish my grandpop was still around and could watch me hit a few ..... Only person who ever made me feel capable of anything. He would be so proud with news paper hung up when I went over his house. And I didn't even know my hs golf scores were in newspaper. And I'd be alternate alot. So not even a match that counts. Awesome video! Thank you for doing this. A few questions I have. 1) You did not mention golf balls used. I assume the Calloway RPT balls? 2) From the video, I did not see overhead protection. From 8', I would think wedges would go above the impact screen or at least some of the time? 3) do you experience chipping issues under 10 yds and do you experience disconnects? Thank you....
@UnrealGolfSandro2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for the response and the great questions. Unfortunately I did have to partially summarize although it seemed like I was rambling forever 😂 I can probably dedicate an entire podcast to this stuff. I will go further in depth with most of these topics and actually already have a few of these answered in my previous videos. I use the ball dot stickers but yes, the dots/RPT balls are necessary for accurate spin/spin axis. The dots work incredibly well and I can use my preferred ball. Since I’m 8ft from the screen, 8’ has never given me issues. My safety net maxes out at around 8.5’ and the closest I’ve come is about a foot from the ceiling on a flop. I can hit my 58° full with no issues. But most would be comfortable with some additional ceiling protection. As for chipping, I have a video put out on my fix for that. It helps with a stable Bluetooth connection and seems to prevent lost data transferred between the LM and gspro. I still have the occasional no-read on chips but I am actually getting chips to read that fly as short as 6 feet. It’s about a $20 fix for a Bluetooth extender sitting next to my unit. When I use the rapsodo app, I do not get disconnects. It seems to be internet related. When I use gspro, I might experience a disconnect once every 3-4 hours but it’s as simple as hitting “connect” on the springbok connector and we’re back up and running. I’m very open about the chipping in my lives and at the end of the day, I prefer the occasional no-read to severe misreads that I had with the skytrak+

Such a great video! This is a very impressive build at a budget price. My question is about the cheap Lowe's turf. Does it really simulate an actual putting green? I'm hoping to add some realistic pudding without spending a grand on high-end turf.
@UnrealGolfSandro2 ай бұрын
Thank you for checking it out. The Lowe’s turf is surprisingly good. Especially once you attach it to the gym mats it has that softer feel. It runs at about 10 on the stimp from what I can tell and it’s fairly smooth. It’s not going to be a $1000 putting green-type of smooth but it allows me to putt in sim rounds comfortably. If you wanted to raise the hitting area and add a cup, it would be a decent training aid. I actually used this same turf to build a putting green at my previous house and I used it daily. For an extreme budget option it’s better than some of the other options out there.

Great video and fantastic setup. Being a 1 handicap I'm sure you wouldn't hit too many stray shots but with that setup effectively in your living room it would be pretty risky playing with high handicaps, novices and kids wouldn't it?
@UnrealGolfSandro2 ай бұрын
@@boojiboy2275 that’s a great concern. I’ve had several high handicappers give it a try (like, really bad players 😅) and to my surprise, the worst shot was a topped 3 wood that went nearly straight up and yet, no ceiling contact. A few shanks have hit the shank wall but none have hit the drywall. My shanks don’t even leave the screen. I’d definitely recommend increasing the width of the shank wall for more comfort and possibly adding some ceiling protection. It’s all personal preference of course but you do want to feel comfortable swinging in the sim.
@ssamqueen2 ай бұрын
Love it man. Does the Rhapsodo give you issues with disconnecting very often?
@UnrealGolfSandro2 ай бұрын
Not at all. I’ll have to make a video and go more into depth on the topic but from what I’ve gathered, it’s all internet specific. My internet and device is great and I have no disconnects when I use the app. App works great on my iPad but runs slow on my iPhone. I mostly use my rapsodo with gspro software connected to my pc, and Bluetooth seems to be the most stable out of every connection. Connects quick and stays connected. So for me, I run gspro for the great graphics and ball physics but also because the Bluetooth connection makes disconnects virtually non-existent. I have the occasional disconnect when running gspro (maybe once every 3 sessions) but it’s as simple as hitting “connect” on the springbok connector and I’m back up and running in about 10 seconds. To me, it doesn’t ruin the experience. I actually had more connection issues with my skytrak+ ($3200) before I switched to the mlm2pro!

Im going with the R10 due to the fact that if you want to run a 3rd party on MLM2 you have to buy the $200 Rapsodo software and then the 3rd party yearly subscription. On top of using the RPT balls ($70/dozen) as someone who hits straight iron shots and know my misses for a driver and not needing ti fix anything I just want something I can use for feedback and get with friends
@UnrealGolfSandro15 күн бұрын
@@qdub2012 the r10 is a great option for what you described. Pretty much just for fun. I wouldn’t take any of the data seriously because the spin axis can give you some pretty wild numbers which changes the entire shot shape. I tired it. Drove me nuts when trying to play full rounds because I’d hit my normal draw and it would show up as a fade. Never could really trust the shape 100%. Night and day difference between the 2 units as far as accuracy goes but I understand the subscription is a lot. If subscription price is a concern, have you considered the square golf launch monitor? It’s new so the firmware needs another update or 2 before it gets really good but it has built in putting and there’s no sub required to use gspro. Should be a decent contender to the mlm2pro and its camera based so it sits right next to the ball.

@UnrealGolfSandro15 күн бұрын
@ understandable. One thing I tell people who are concerned about the Rapsodo sub is that with all the launch monitors popping up on the market every couple months, it’s likely that there will be a few more good options a year from now. No matter where you purchase the mlm2pro, that first year’s sub is included for free. That’s a great way to test it out and worst case, you can sell your unit when you get something else. But honestly, it’s got a lot of great features that are going to keep me subbing next year. Just food for thought!

The video i was looking at before the dude was recommending like a $1400 mat because of “back problems”.. so I wasn’t sure. Also might have to do a 60” TV on the side instead of a projector. Haven’t decided if I want to stream from my iPad or hook up my spare gaming desktop with a NVIDIA 3070. Will definitely hit you up.
@UnrealGolfSandro2 ай бұрын
@@rigoalhn1 definitely close on space. Even if you can’t hit driver you’ll still thoroughly enjoy it. That guy was right, the mat is extremely important. But it’s the hitting strip that can prevent elbow, shoulder, back pain, etc. if you find the mat I recommended isn’t sufficient, the popular ones like country club elite are still only around $80 if you just get a strip. I don’t find the cheap stance mat to be a problem and I have zero pain after 6 months with my setup. I don’t see the need for crazy expensive flooring otherwise, unless if just for looks. And if you go with the rapsodo, try their app out before deciding on additional software. It’s great for practice and game improvement and the courses are probably 6/10 for immersiveness. But if you really want that “wow” factor of a simulation software, you’ll want gspro. And that’s what truly takes the mlm2pro to the next level. I didn’t have a projector for a couple weeks after my initial cheap one broke and myself and a couple friends still enjoyed gspro, just by looking at a 27” monitor after each shot. So there’s definitely no need to start out with the impact screen and projector. In fact a net is so much quieter than an impact that you might really like it.

@UnrealGolfSandro3 ай бұрын
@@chadandtyler autoputt is the common one. Takes all putting out of the equation. GSPRO is great because you can set the gimme ranges. Default is 10ft for a 1 putt, 30 (I think) for a 2 putt, anything else is 3. There’s also a randomizer where you make putts off a percentage and you also have the option to choose your putt. I’ve seen people get creative with that too. But most people don’t putt in general! They say it’s too tricky to judge (which I agree) and prefer auto putt because it makes the game flow better. Having any more than 2 people in the sim can get annoying when everyone’s spending more time putting than getting on the green. Gspro is the official software for the Sim Golf Tour and they have an autoputt tour to accommodate everyone, if tournaments are your style.

What is the dimension of the space you are using? (Lengthxwidthxheight). Looking for from the wall behind the computer to the other wall.
@UnrealGolfSandro15 күн бұрын
Space is about 20’ x 13’ x 9.5-10.5’(vaulted ceilings). The pc to the opposite wall is the 13’ measurement. It’s more than enough space all around which helps it to feel comfortable but could certainly go smaller

How did you connect the rapsodo to a PC?
@UnrealGolfSandro24 күн бұрын
Rapsodo connects to the pc via Bluetooth and there’s a simple download of a 3rd party connector that reads the data from the unit and sends it to gspro. Works flawlessly and a good majority of Rapsodo, Garmin r10 and mevo+ users use it. It’s called the “springbok connector” and it also allows you to putt if you have a webcam!

how were you able to get the rapsodo app on the computer? I reached out to support about it because I was going to get a gaming PC like you did and then put the app on it, but when I reached out to support and when they emailed back they said that you are currently not able to use the MLM2Pro on the PC. that it is only available on IOS phone/iPad or a Adroid phone or tablet. I would love to build something very similar to what you have done here but I am just not sure how to get the software on a gaming PC. Also if I do put the software on a PC like you did, then would I still be able to use it on an Ipad if i were to take it to the range. thank you in advance!
@UnrealGolfSandro9 күн бұрын
@@montanaburke6267 that’s because I’m not actually using the Rapsodo app on my pc. This is GSPro, a simulator software. It only runs on pc. It’s far superior to other softwares out there. Ball physics, graphics, and the level of detail goes beyond everything else I’ve seen. 1000+ courses publicly released, etc. I still use the rapsodo app and I showcase that in my other videos but I do so more for practice. The mobile app won’t give you the same immersive feel that you’ll get with gspro but it’s great for a budget, quick setup and mobile option. I use both softwares but majority being gspro. It’s an additional $250/yr and you can hook up a webcam for webcam putting with gspro. So if you already have hopes of using a pc, then the upgrade to gspro is a no brainer. Check out my videos of the recent rapsodo beta and finally, post update to get a better idea at what the rapsodo app gets you. Let me know if you have even more questions. I can direct you further

My mlm2pro carry distances are way off. I’m hitting into a net. I have about 8’. Not sure about this unit.
@UnrealGolfSandro2 ай бұрын
Are you using it in a garage or somewhere where it might have concrete or metal interference? I’m set to to 8’ as well and I really don’t have any discrepancies. Interference is huge with radar units. And it’s being addressed in the newest update
@momstercrossfire2 ай бұрын
@@UnrealGolfSandro concrete basement. Im going to work on covering some concrete in front of the unit. I used it today with more distance from ball to screen and it seems to be pretty decent. I think in need more lighting as well.
@UnrealGolfSandro2 ай бұрын
@@momstercrossfire definitely try to cover that concrete. And you shouldn’t need more lighting (even without me knowing how much you have now), the unit uses infrared cameras so it actually thrives in the dark. Watch out for interference from any portable fans as well. I hope it continues to be a good option for you. I’m loving mine and I’m picky
@momstercrossfire2 ай бұрын
@@UnrealGolfSandro yeah I’m starting to find that out. My question though is, how much and where does the concrete need covered? Does it need something thick over it?
