The sofa is super comfortable. I'm 230lbs I can feel the board under my legs but it doesn't bother me at all. My wife said she doesn't feel. It can be lowered or downsized to a 2x4 from a 2x6. I don't thinks it's a issue at all. Thx for watching

Thank you do much! I really like this outdoor furniture. I had to cut a white oak tree in my yard and I made a few planks out of it. I have seasoned it for 2 years now. I need to cut them into 2x4 and 2x6s as I am planning on building the one you built! Could you also share the plank dimensions for the single seater? Please? 👏👏👏

@HomeProHero
@HomeProHero Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I used pressure treated wood called Cedar Tone. Its like the green stuff but its brown and safer - costs a little more. You can purchase it at menards or home depot. I don't believe Lowes sells it. I built my pavilion and the chair out of the same material. Good stuff! You could also use cedar but its too much $$$ right now. Or to save money you could use regular pine but would have to paint it for weather proofing. Hope this helps and make sure you subscribe for more!

Sure! At 6:19 you add the back board at a slant. What degree is that? How do you determine if the back rest will be comfortable?
@HomeProHero
@HomeProHero Жыл бұрын
@@80bjonesAccording to google, a comfortable angle for a chair ranges between 3-8 degrees. I believe I went right in the middle at 5 degrees. If you're looking to increase the angle of the upright seat back, you can extend the arms on each side. By moving the connecting 2x4 farther back, you'll have the flexibility to adjust the angle to your liking. I find the current angle comfortable since I sit on the couch regularly. In fact, I built a chair with the same angle, and I absolutely love it! I'm even planning to add a matching lounger and potentially build a complete set for my screened porch. I hope this information is helpful to you!

This is an awesome build and I'm waiting for the wood to dry out to start building. Some questions however. The 2x4 seat slat behind the front 2x6 face board... is that flush/perpendicular to the face board or are you matching the angle of the side stringers? Would it be beneficial to shave off 5 degrees to make it flush against the face board and match the side stringer? The top back rest support @ 5:58. You don't mention it or explain how you're attaching it. I am assuming from the commander chair video you used a 2x4 and attached it with pocket holes. Correct? Thanks again for a great channel. Love your style and videos!
@HomeProHero
@HomeProHero Жыл бұрын
Thank you for becoming a member and supporting the channel! I truly appreciate it. Regarding the 2x4 seat slat, I did run it with the 5% angle on the sides. Although it leaves a small crack at the top between itself and the front 2x6, I personally don't find it necessary to cut that edge to 5%. In fact, it's barely noticeable, and I haven't even had to lift the cushions since I installed them! You're absolutely right about the back support 2x4. I should have provided better detail in the video. To attach it, I used pocket screws in conjunction with liquid nails, as that board does bear some weight. Sofa Update: it's still as sturdy as a tank, and both my wife and our furry friends, the cat and dog, absolutely love it! Personally, I'm more inclined towards the commander's chair. I the spacious armrests and the proximity to the smoker is all me :) Take care, and thank you again! HPH

Cool stuff. But why are you using liquid nail on wood. For the love of god, please use wood glue. lol. Wood glue penetrates the wood where liquid glue bonds two surfaces at one point. Not the same outcome over the long run. That’s why woodworks use wood glue.
