Great video, mate! Your filter room looks great, but at the same time your plumbing looks like a maze.😮 I hope you don’t get lost 😅

Looking good 👌 are you going to cover the window as sun light (uv rays) with be detrimental to the bacteria in the moving bed

Question: how do you know what size pipe to use for the volume of water being pushed by the pump. Same question for the tank size. Was thinking of building a mechanical filter for my pond and using a submersible 9800gph pump to try to turn over some of the pond's water volume but through some mechanical filter pads/micron filter pads/a place for carbon or purigen...whatever. should i have at least twice the number of return pipes as intake pipes or at least double the diameter pipe? How big should my container be (gallon-size-wise) to accommodate the water volume that pump will push? Thank you for your time! You have mad skills! 😀
@The_Koi_PitАй бұрын
@@kristycannon7923 hello! I’ll do my best: 9800gph is a good size pump. Is this pump only going to Be used for the filter you’re wanting to build? Even before calculating head pressure that is a lot of water to put through a single filter unless you’re planning to build a seriously massive one With at least a 4” return pipe. In my pond I have two pumps that both do 7000gph for a total of 14000gph if I chose to run them both going all out (they are variable speed so I have some control over their performance). My pumps both supply water to various filters and returns throughout the whole system so no return is taking on too much flow (except for that one moment in this video where I goofed up). Larger diameter pipes are usually a better bet for both inlets and drains. You can hook up a pressurized 2” pipe to a 9800 gph pump, but even two 2” return pipes won’t be able to drain as quickly as the single is filling the filter up. My best advice would be to find some online calculators for Water Flow Rate through Piping. That should get you a better idea of what size pipes to use for whatever you’re trying to create.
@kristycannon7923Ай бұрын
@The_Koi_Pit That makes a lot of sense. Thank you! Yes, the pump is just going to feed the mechanical filter box and return back to the pond. I will look online to see about a water flow chart as you suggested. Maybe I might just need to step the pump size down some. Thank you for your time! I appreciate it 🙏 😌
