The reality of being an accountant is that its extremely hard to get pr by yourself unless the employer sponsors you for 186 pr. Cutoff marks for 189 and 190 are well above 100 marks which is hard to get that nobody does accounting degrees if they come to aus for studies. Some do and realize the reality and change their path to nursing/ chef or mechanic fields just to get the pr and then continues being a nurse. Now its even harder to survive in sri lanka with a commerce degree and it can be observed with cutoff marks for university degrees in the commerce stream. People no longer fancy management and accounting degrees in japura but they choose bsc in business science in moratuwa uni aiming to become a business analyst in a software company. I discourage anyone choosing accounting pathways for these reasons. In your case, you are a high achiever with top results and those high achievers in any respective field will manage very well even in an accountants nightmare country like australia. Just wanted to coin what i have seen so far and all the best with your growing channel which i have been following since 200s subscribers!

Shan, she can easily apply for PR under external auditor category specially for a 190 visa in victoria. I know cases who were successful with a score of 85 recently.

I'm a civil engineer and my occupation category got 189 invitations for 65 marks. now every civil engineer in sri lanka, india, and pakistan are doing skills assessment to get 189 with 65 marks which they will never going to get as cutoffs increase. there is no guarantee that one will get the invitation for 85 points next year or in 4 years. so choosing a career path looking at the recent invitation statistics is an unwise idea for youngsters. of course if she apply as an accountant within few weeks she would even get 189 in this financial year. but this year is an outlier. never to be generalized over the prevailing trend for so many years.

@@administratorshan I agree. I know how difficult it was to secure a visa under accountant category 2 years back ( pre- COVID). I was referring to recent cases. As you said, beyond 2 years from now, things will change drastically. So, early birds are going to be winners

Can I know how much is the minimum score needed for Software Engineers to apply for PR? Will 75 be enough?

@@Sanduni12865 minimum score is 65. but the cutoff marks for software engineers are well beyond 95 as there are too many software people competing from india and pakistan. try to get all 90 marks possible from offshore and apply for 190 or 491

Well this free education story is a wide topic.Yes it is a great privilege to have as rich or poor you can gey educated and start your life with your skills. But this needs changing to make more people in the fields that can develop the country and contribute more to production. Due to lack of vision we are so behind and not because of lack of educated people. People left the country either because country couldn't afford to use them or they had more distance to go. Whoever goes send money to motherland and there is no expenses from them to the country on healthcare or pensions. Apart from whom abroad country has no remittances and it is highly dependant on that. In any disaster covid or flood or whatever expats send donation to help what the government cannot afford Country's problem is no jobs for educated people, not the skill shortage. Country is already ruined and more people will go and will feed their families in Sri Lanka and send money for the others causes school facilities, medical stuff and feeling extra poor etc So think widely and wisely

@@wajira Sri Lanka has a knowledge out flow. It has being happening for many years now and that is one of the reasons for the down fall of Sri Lanka. The county is left on the hands of corrupted ones and no greater economic growth due to lack of innovations by the sprit of the country. This must stop or the government must impose a rule that every one who leaves the county after the university education for jobs in other countries must payback their education cost. A poor country like Sri lanka manufactures skilled workers and export those to other counties free of charge. Australia or any other county gladly welcome such products as they know their gain. Majority of people who migrate never wants to come back or they do not remit their earning to their mother county. All what they want to earn a similar life like other fellow men in that county. I have met many Indians who have come to Europe for work but they make sure to remit their salary to their home county and they return back to their mother land after few years. But so called Sri Lankans stars to brag about their benefits and superior life life in their new county, not only that they also stars to criticize their own county which has given them so mush to come up in their life. Sad but true.

@@piyasall3762 I understand your concern but I mentioned you that how it works quantitatively. Lanka"s main problem is not skill outflow. SL has a mafia of politicians, official and few business people that again friends of politicians. They control everything and businesses cannot be done freely. Everything has to go via corruption.Since no e-governance platforms there is a huge inefficiently which kills people's time that has to be utilized for economy. Also they loot poor salaries of people for bribes. Many skilled leave country because they cannot work with their honestly and dignity. If you say we give out skill free of charge they defenitely send money back than they are paid. We send unskilled people to other countries not trained people like nurses etc as countries like Philippines does. Lately there are complains our nurses are rude even they are skille compared to nurses come from other asian countries. They way to lift country is proper voacational and IT skills at early age than pushing everyone for some uni degree which cannot be used in the industry On going SL youth should work to the world from SL which is more services based that is where global economy heads. Those skills can be made within 12 months Business has to be free an competitive where export must not be restricted . But who is in the power for decades have no vision for a growing SL. Without that change professionals cannot do anything and we will be in ore debt as nothing in spending has changed.
