Welcome to our latest farm vlog, where we encounter some unexpected challenges while caring for our ewes and lambs. Join us as we navigate a day filled with both surprises and essential farm tasks.
Our day begins with the intention of feeding the ewes and their hungry lambs. However, fate has other plans as we discover a flat tire on our ute. Undeterred, we roll up our sleeves and set out to change the tire. Watch as we tackle this unexpected obstacle with determination, ensuring we can continue with our farm chores.
With the tire issue resolved, we turn our attention to the primary task at hand - feeding our ewes and their eagerly waiting lambs. Witness the hustle and bustle as we ensure that each member of our flock receives the nourishment they need.
Our day continues as we head to the wool shed to carry out another vital task - crutching the sheep. This process is essential for maintaining the health and well-being of our flock. Join us as we go through this meticulous procedure with the care and expertise that farm life demands.
In this vlog, you'll witness the unexpected challenges that can arise on a farm, from flat tires to the essential daily tasks of caring for our animals. A tip for future tyre incidents. Always loosen wheelnuts a little before jacking off the ground. It stops the tyre moving if the nuts are supertight. Jack and then finnish loosening nuts. It helps with leverage. My dad made me change all my tyres in the driveway at home when i first got my drivers license. A lesson i appreciated later in life and being confident in an emergency. Well done Tara for a very practical confident young lady.

Its pretty stupid that a lot of people here in the US think all English words are universal. People speak different English and words mean different things in different cultures. And thats true even within the US in different regions. The US doesn't all speak the same English throughout at all. I admit though, that I was one of those idiots until I moved around, couldn't understand people, and had to learn alternate English myself lol

@@CLB___ can’t say for sheep, but when I worked with horses we’d send them to the paddock, which is as Tara described. This was in the North Eastern US. I do believe the term pasture was used for the neighboring cattle, though so that might be some of the confusion.

I recently taught a troop of Girlscouts how to change tires. Showed them how to use a trolly jack, farm jack, and bottle jack. (I don't actually own a scissor jack) My favorite jack, especially for vehicles like yours, is a hybrid jackstand, bottle-jack. The girls also vastly preferred using my impact wrench to the 4way. (The entire troop was just before their 16th birthdays, and half of them were getting cars for their birthday. So their parents GREATLY appreciated the lessons.)

Most people have never changed a tire these days. How sad is that! Two steps for added safety... #1 break the lug nuts loose while the tire is still touching on the ground. This prevents excess wiggling that might knock the vehicle off the jack if the nuts are too tightly in place and require extra oomph to get them loose. #2 when the spare tire comes out it goes flat on its side under the axe as an added block until the bad tire is off, then the bad tire takes it's place until the spare is on an lug nuts are tight. Again this is to have something under the axe if the jack breaks or the car comes off to keep it from falling on you. Last step is to pull that bad tire out and into the vehicle, lower the replaced tire to the ground and do one more lug nut check before cleaning up and putting it away.

Paddock is from the old English Parrock which used to mean a small enclosed area (about 12th century) Field at the time meant to spread. So if we stuck strictly to original meanings it's a paddock if it contains animals and a field if it contains crops. However words change meaning over time so fast it's unreal. EG "Gay" has had 5 meanings in my lifetime and I know of earlier meanings.

Love your vids. Just a tip: easier to crack the initial torque off your lug nuts before you jack up the vehicle. On a lot of vehicles the wheel will spin a bit still when raised - this can be a pain in the arse to apply the initial torque to. Also I'm pretty sure with your 10 tonne jack you can raise it up to a certain height using a screw, saving you have to wind it up all the way with the handle.

I have so been enjoying your channel. So resourceful, and such a great sense of humor! Eggs laid in the tire. Total;y weird and yet unexceptional in farm life. I didn't know gum trees were a type of eucalyptus! We have a lot of eucalyptus in California, brought in the 1850s, the result of one of those "it seemed like a good idea at the time" situations. It wasn't. Invasives that add to our fire danger situation, but still appreciated as beautiful trees.

I even put a pole over the end of the tyre iron to get extra leverage. Finally called a friend and he got them off. I was so mad at myself. I use a rattle gun in the truck, and on the car…having done both vehicles manually, the rattle gun paid for itself with the first tyre and has been an essential piece of kit for several years now.

I'm a bit late to this vlog but it was as fun and entertaining as they always are. And I can confirm that you're mot the only one who uses a powered drill (if thats what they're called) to change tyres. Had colleagues last summer coming out to my rescue twice when I'd managed to get a flat tyre on the mail van I was driving. Looking forward to yiur next video and take care! Say hi to slug from me❤️

I'm from the us and my husband and I call them paddocks. People are so stupid to think that things can only be called 1 thing 😂☠️

Its always fun to me to see cultural differences in words like "paddock" from what i can tell it seems to be a more general term there. Here where im from in the states we would use paddock to refer to a concrete pad with grain fed livestock on it, a fenced in area like what you have the sheep on is called a pasture, and wherever we grow our crops is called a feild. Always super fascinating. Love the channel, cant wait to see more!

loved the video! definitely didn't know how to change a tire... why'd you have typo get in the water? did you explain that in the video and i just missed it? or was it just because it was hot?
@TaraFarms

I don’t think I explained it, it was just a hot day and I normally let her out every now and then for a drink a lot of the time she just goes there and stand there and looks at me 😂
