Damn! I love the custom paint and brush work. You just turned this 2 dollar thrift store item Into a sweet little noise maker. Awesome job man!

Well done, this is an awesome project and video. I listened to you talk about it a bit on the Magpie’s podcast. You guys inspire me to keep making noise and constantly creating.

So cool seeing your process! Have you considered doing a voiceover for this sort of video down the line?

Thank you! Someday I should do that, once I can scrounge up some time

Hey, I am just curious whether this is something you taught yourself or if you studied something related to electrical engineering? :)

I'm pretty sure that's a custom built bending box, which has a variety of potentiometers on it, and 2 leads...you can use it to test out various pot values, before you hardwire something in. It's just for convenience, really...and you can make it yourself however you desire, even adding other various components like capacitors, selector switches, etc.....i.e., whatever you feel you would commonly like to test bends with.

Was a trim knob and switch the only additions?
@veryunslay11 ай бұрын
i wanna do this but i have 0 knowledge about electronics and circuits, where can i start?
@bendixmax11 ай бұрын
Go for older toys that dont have ics in it and only go for battery powered an cheap ones, there are solder connections you could fry the pcb with but its a little try and error, try to find something and see if there fits a button, switch or trim pod, Sonetimes theres an resistor which regulates the pitch of the sound so you can change it, there photo sensors that regulate their resistance by incoming light or you can wire two points to the outside of the case so you yourself can act as the switch;D there is a great book: handmade electronic music, hope that helps! greets and have fun ;)

Nice try. But that showed me very little about circuit bending. No context, zero technical expanations. So after watching this I still have ZERO information about how this is done. All I learned was you need a soldering gun. And I already knew that.
@OkHousecat2 жыл бұрын
lol well this video is more or less just a timelapse of my whole process- literally how I circuit bend a thing, from start to finish. Definitely not the best beginner's guide to the technical side of things, but if that's what you're after, I recommend the book "Circuit Bending: Build Your Own Alien Instruments" by Reed Ghazala, it gets into the weeds about everything going on here

Definitely check out Reed Ghazala’s book. He literally invented the concept of circuit bending.

If the video was actually intended to be a complete step by step tutorial of this project it would probably be 4 hours long instead of 4 minutes. I appreciate the 4 minute version as an inspiration for what type of things may be possible to figure out on my own. Also, you may find it difficult to find another of these exact school buss toys. 🚗🚕🏎🚚🚛🚜🚐🚎🚌🚒🚑🚙
