I tend to call myself an intentionalist instead of minimalist, I want to own things intentionally and the things I keep have a purpose.

Ooooh I love that!

I really like this school of thought! I am definitely not a minimalist but a couple summers ago I did a huge declutter and am now way more intentional about what comes in and goes out of the house. I am going to start using this!
@tanyazeschke91276 ай бұрын
Being a miminalist is basically the same, you declutter, own less, and intentionally only purchase things you need. Being a miminalist doesn't always mean you own nothing. Good job on your decluttering journey 🎉

I had different strategies to help keep things clean when my kids were young, when I was a working woman and now a retired senior. We always have to reassess our problem areas, I like that you figured things out in a way that worked for you. For me in my 70's I find some big jobs harder to do so I find work arounds. My refrigerator is very hard to take apart and clean so I got in a routine of wiping it out every week before I bought groceries and using some clear plastic bins for somethings. It has been a year since a big clean out and it's still clean plus I have brought food waste down to about zero.

Hey Catherine, I love seeing your videos every week! I can't get over the before & after photos all the time! I can' t wait to see more videos. I actually cleaned up my bedroom a few days ago and it is so spotless now! ❤❤❤

Wow Catherine, your home is so cozy, clutter free, and clean. It took me almost a year of declutterring and deep cleaning my 2 story home and garage. That was 3 years ago. I am now going back thru to gather things not used, broken, or whatever I missed. It does feel good and, I believe, a direct correlation to my mental health. I love the new rug in your bathroom. ❤

It has made such a huge impact on mine as well! It’s not easy but it is worth it.

I agree about not having the rumba ( Hazel) vacuum clean the bathroom. Mine used to get caught behind the bathroom door 😢.

I love the message in this video. This is so true. This has been my motto for a long time. It takes 30 minutes to an hour to clean up. It really makes life so much easier. People can drop in anytime 😂.

I'm terrible with mail too. I put a small basket on the end of my counter and clean it out like 2 times a month. I do open my mail and through things away as they come in.

Thank you for all the cleaning motivation. I love the new bathroom rug with a little bit of color. One thing I like in a bathroom with a shower curtain are the clips that have 2 hooks on them so you can hang the curtain and the liner separately which makes it easy when only one of them needs to be washed. Also if you haven't tried it yet, you need to get a Chom Chom pet hair roller. I have 4 cats and can quickly clean all my couches in minutes and remove the surface cat hair. I still do an occasional vacuum to get any of the dander and dust but the Chom Chom clean up the pet hair even better than the vacuum.

It’s great the boys learn the importance of housekeeping. I was a single mom when my husband and I got married. My son would always tell him “Mom expects you to do this or that or today is the day she does laundry!” Lol😂He learned everyone helps!

Loved Loved Loved this video! I actually love all your videos. New subbie. One thing I'd like to "suggest" for the pile of papers - get a dollar tree basket (one of the ones that's not tall) and just toss your papers in there. It would be more aesthetically pleasing. But like you always say - it would be a personal choice! TFS

👍 tips for keeping everything clean! A clean home feels more like a home than a cluttered house. 👍 job u have done with decluttering. If it would only stay clean. Haha. Go through papers once or twice a week. Set a 20 minute timer and ask your kids 2 pick up toys and things and put them away before going 2 bed each night

The way I would not answer the door if I had a surprise guest stop by my home. I know it’s pretty normal for some people but not us. In fact the first time my MIL just stopped by my home we got in an argument because I had plans and I was instantly overwhelmed by her stopping by unannounced . We got through that hurdle but I still have anxiety at the thought of someone just deciding to come over unannounced.

You don’t have to rinse your dishes off before putting them in the dishwasher. Just scrape off loose food. If you rinse them off your dishwasher has nothing to clean. You are also wasting time and water rinsing them off. This is tip I have heard from many dishwashing repair companies.
@bethanyb17606 ай бұрын
I’ve heard this too! The dishwasher has sensors to sense how dirty the dishes are and if they are clean it doesn’t do much. Scraping food should be enough, I have never had any issues with food left behind when I just scrap them. I also see lots of KZbinrs rinse their dishes, didn’t really know people did that until I started watching cleaning channels.
@CatherineElaine6 ай бұрын
I like to rinse them off so my filter doesn’t get yucky, also the thought of food scraps just sloshing around in there 🤢
@franceskey796 ай бұрын
I always rinse my dishes off too before putting in the dishwasher. Everyone has their own way of doing things.

I think it’s funny how your husband puts on gloves to take out the kitchen garbage and you just grab the bathroom garbage like it’s nothing. 😂 As a kid we hated taking out the bathroom trash. We had old plumbing so we weren’t allowed to flush tp. 🤢 As an adult our household decides to remove the garbage daily. Keeps it from overflowing. 😉

PLEASE let your bed air dry for minimum a hour before you make it to avoid mold inside of the matress! Everybody on social media makes that wrong and risks health issues! 😢
