Please, keep in mind that this is how *I* usually start creating songs. That doesn't mean it's THE only way. LMMS gives you a lot of options, so depending on what you want to achieve with the program, you'll want to use different plugins etc. Nowadays, I use mostly VSTs for more realistic sounds.

How to use desktop keyboard as a midi keyboard...in lmms....bro
@roggeralves944 жыл бұрын
In the piano roll, do you see that, to the right of the play button, there is a "ring" symbol and a play button with a circle around it? You can use these to record notes with the keyboard as you play the song. The first button plays only the current instrument; the second one plays all instruments. To change the notes assigned to each key of your keyboard, you can change the "base note" as I show in the video. I usually use this to get the timing right then I adjust the notes manually.

I don't know the exact number but by default there are lots of plugins and presets in LMMS. You can use the soundfonts (as I showed in the video) to get more instruments or a specific sound (say, 16-bit-like). You can also use VST plugins, so the possibilities are almost endless.

Thank you for the tutorial! I got a question, could you possibly help... I have drum samples, just single samples, and can I work with them in piano roll, i mean, I can, but only with one sample at a time and this is not quite handy...I can make a drum beat in a bass/drum pattern but i think that piano roll is better...can I combine my drum samples in one piano roll, like you did on this tutorial? :)
@roggeralves943 жыл бұрын
If you have separate samples, you'd have to use Audio File Processor to play them. But each sample would have a separate track. Another solution would be to create an sf2 file out of your samples (then yeah, your samples would show up in the same track), but I'm afraid that would be too much work, and quite honestly, I've never tried it. Probably the best solution here is to use the Beat + Bassline Editor. I don't use it often, but it can be useful in your situation. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6u8cmSfbriNbqM

@@roggeralves94 Great Thanks for the reply!! I hope i won't bother you asking one more question...how do i disconnect some instrument from the master track? Is it possible? I guess i heard somewhere that it can be done, but can't find it anywhere....
@roggeralves943 жыл бұрын
@@BlackOrc1988 I assume you're talking about the FX mixer, right? You can't disconnect an instrument from the master track, as far as I know. You can only assign it to a different FX channel so that you can add specific effects to that instrument (or instruments), but it'll still be tied to the master track. However, if you want to maybe add FX to all instruments but one, you could just create a new FX channel and add all instruments to it, except the one you don't want effects added to. For example, if you have a guitar, drums, a bass and a synth and you want to add reverb to all instruments but the bass, you could assign the guitar, drums and synth to 'FX channel 1' then add reverb. You would also be able to control their volume at once, while keeping the bass at the same volume. This would be equivalent to removing the bass from the master track. Hope that helps!

I want to use LMMS, but I'm not sure about how it will run on my computer. Does it work on a Windows 10 operating system? Also, will it make any changes to my computer when I install it? I don't want it to mess up anything.
@roggeralves944 жыл бұрын
LMMS works on Windows 10, and it will most likely work on your computer. My old laptop was very low-end (1.3 gHz CPU, 2 gb ram, no graphics card etc), and the only problem LMMS had was a delay when I input notes from the keyboard. Also, when I had around 10 tracks, the software would have issues playing the sound in real time, although it rendered the songs normally. My current laptop is better, but not high-end and it runs LMMS really well. So basically - you don't need a NASA computer to run LMMS :) To answer your second question, LMMS shouldn't mess up your computer in normal circumstances. I've been using it since 2014 and never had any issues.
