How I created my big orange rose in watercolor🌹 Botanical illustration

In this workshop I use new colors from France I haven't tried it. I usually have a lot of pink and lavender shades in my palette. But I am very glad to move away from my usual colors and try something new.

Beautiful! Looks like Quin Maroon or violet on the bottom. I was curious if you have tried stretching the paper. Obviously it can be a challenge, Gatorboard could make whatever size you would need. I use clear tape to protect the edges from water and duct tape. I never used to stretch the full sheets until recently when I just decided that I liked to paint on a tight flat surface. I have different sizes of board and the company would make even larger sizes. It really keeps the painting fixed to something and I can turn it without being worried about damaging it. Apricot/orange roses are my favorite and the paint was lovely too. Very lovely. I enjoy botanicals but I love nature in general. Happy painting!😊
