Gary from Australia. One of your better videos from my point of view. I lack the knowledge on how to fully process a image. You would have done 10 times more adjustment and this is why my images do not look the best. But this video done step by step and explanation on why it was done is excellent. Will go back a few times to learn your methods. Love your site look forward to each one. Thanks again.

Amazing! It is so helpful to see the complete process. Thank you Nigel! I was wondering if you could do a video on your computer setup? Post processing is such an important step for every photographer but it can be so frustrating when the workflow is slow because of poor computer performances. How do you organize everything? Are all your photos and catalog on external hard drive? What kind of drive? And what are your computers specs for a smooth workflow? I’m sure a lot of people would enjoy a short video on how you organize everything! :)

Thanks for this amazing video which is extremely interesting for the way you use the Radial and Brush in lightroom. Its certainly sure I'll go over this again once I've got the photos I need. I know I will enjoy your calendar. Thanks so much for all the wonderful help I have received from your videos this year. Have a great 2021.

It's an interesting perspective for such a wide focal length. I'd have expected the fence to appear more stretched, but it looks very natural. Really nice.

Thanks Nigel, very informative. I am continually amazed at the different methods in Photoshop to do the same thing. For example, I use the Lasso, then the Del key to use content aware fill. I also use AutoBlend layers, then tweak the masks if needed.

Always enjoy your vids Nigel. Really liked the combination of shooting tips and the editing on this one. Can you do some more of these every now and then please? Not been to Mam Tor yet but it's on my wish list but it's a 4hr drive from home for me so I guess it would have to be a 'stupid o'clock' awakening! Any tips for best time over the 'winter months' as I don't have a 4x4 or snow tyres.

Hello Nigel, very informative video, I've done focus stacking but the element I've not seen before is at 18:15 in the video where you added the mask and I can't work out what selections you made to get the brush etc. I often find with videos that the person describing what is going on doesn't always capture the fine detail of what they are clicking on in PS or LR so, if you could be so kind, can you describe what you did regarding getting the bottom left more in focus please? From what I understand you are taking the elements of one layer and applying the focus to the other but it's the actual PS mechanics of it which I can't see. Thanks.

I have started to use the screen touch focus and shoot, I find it very effective, because the screen is quite sensitive and does not vibrate the camera as much as the button. This also allows you to focus and shoot in quick succession.

Great one Nigel. A bit late watching this one but I have one question: @ 3:15 you said your banker is to usually focus on the mountain knowing that everything from a few feet away from you will be in focus. I always understood that one needs to focus on the hyperfocal distance (in this case 60cm from you) to ensure everything from that point is acceptably sharp including the distant mountain ? So if you don't focus stack does it not matter whether you focus on the mountain or on the hyperfocal point, same result ?

Another great video Nigel and a lovely image. I always seem to pick up something new watching your post processing. This time the brightening of the fence with a radial filter which I would have never thought to do that way. However, when focus stacking, why not use auto-blend in Photoshop to focus rather than a mask and doing it manually? It seems far simpler, works well and frequently the recommended method by others. I must admit the stone you removed did not bother me, but the wide angle distortion causing the first fence post to lean excessively would probably bug me a bit and I'd probably not been able stop myself trying to straighten it a little (too many years listening to camera club judges probably!)

Great presentation Nigel. If you could stack images in PhotoShop where they came out as a dng would that change your workflow so that you stacked first then applied all the masks, etc. Also if you have not brushed in the closer focus layer wouldn’t PhotoShop have done it for you?
