I'm a male and I also cut my own hair for the last 8-9 or 10 years.. I've been using trimming scissors, exactly the same as the one shown in this video.. I do agree about the flexibility in doing your hair by yourself.. Being having relatively short hair, I still have to have my hair cut by a Barber once every two or so years though..

I tried it today and it worked out great and was so much easier and quicker than techniques I used before. Thank you :)

I tried cutting my hair before, but I ended up in this cycle of cutting it shorter and shorter to make up for previous mistakes! After 1+ hour, I finished with very short and uneven hair. My flatmate saw this, had a good laugh and came to the rescue. He helped trim my hair as best he could and we had a great time bonding over this very short haircut. This is a great memory, but I've learnt to go to my barber. After all, holding a hand mirror to see the reflection of your back head in the front mirror whilst cutting with another hand requires a lot of skill!

I saw a trick that could help : put a mirror on the door of your bathroom, it should face the mirror above the sink. This trick is also helpful to dye the back of your hair.

I would have never had thunk it! I cut my own hair also, but I just grow it all out one length after having shaved it all off every 2-3 years (donating purposes). I would trust you with cutting my hair any day.

Been cutting my own hair since December 2012, coming to 10 years now. Buying that set of hair clippers at the Harvey Norman warehouse clearance sale had to be one of the best purchases I made. Been cutting my own hair since then and have never looked back. In fact I look better cutting my own hair myself.

The smartest and prettier lady I have seen so far on youtube :-) Your video reminded me of my past when I was studying in The City University, London My flat mate and I helped cut each other's hair to save cost! Eventually, I had to cut my own hair using two mirrors, because my flat mate was not happy with my hair cut

Agree. I was worried at first as just by default always paid and never thought about this until always having Bad hairdressersand wasting time parking, driving there. Bought everything needed for under £30 amazon and learned from youtube. After about 3 attempt was better than any hairdresser had been to and did it in under 15 mins for a great professional look. Saves huge amount of time - normal took about 1.5 hrs drive hairdresser, parking, waiting, traffic etc.

This is very interesting because although I'm a man I have long hair and I also cut my own hair but not to the degree that you do, probably because I'm too lazy, but I would have never guessed that you cut and style your own hair. Impressive and I mean that.🙂👏

Hey beautiful lady, I did the same back in Europe during my studies inItaly. I not only cut my hair but also cut my Uni friend's hair too originating from several nationalities . I became good at it . Haircut price is crazy high in EU , esp for a foreign student . Then I found a Chinese salone that cuts for a cheaper price and then I gave myself a break at times . Then moving in Beijing made me realize Chinese hair salons are the best among many. Nice job. I know what's it cutting your own hair and now many know since the covid quarantine hit the entire world . ❤❤❤ tones of love 💕.

I am male and I used to go to a certain hair dresser for like 15 years, but she retired at some point and I was going to a few new places and was never really satisfied with how they did the hair - it took a long time to train my previous hair dresser so she knew how I wanted it cut, after all :D. So at some point when I got another bad hair cut I figured: how hard can it be? I looked at some YT videos, got me a 17 EUR Philips hair cutter (plus the scissors I already had at home anyway) and have been cutting my hair myself for around 6 years now. You get the hang of it rather quickly and you can do different styles and trim it at any spot just the way you like it. Very convenient, the flexibility of when to do it is also priceless (I prefer to do it at night :D). Only cleaning up the mess afterwards is a bit annoying, but doing it once every ~8 weeks is still very worth it.

Usually I buy coupons to get a cheap haircut as it's really getting expensive where I live, include 15% tips, 15% tax, gas or a bus, and the result varies from salon to salon. The last time I had a really bad experience with a new cheap salon, where an owner wanted to charge me more than the coupon price saying I had 2 cm more in length than their coupon price tag. I was pissed and went away not willing to pay more. So, I went to aliexpress and bought everything I could to trim my hair, even a hair ruler. Yes, aliexpress has everything you can even imagine. I bought a "japanese" set of scissors, and they are fanstastic! I will definitely learn to cut my bang, straighten my hair a little bit. I also recommend.learning this skill especially if you have little girls at home who have simple hair styles and you can easily see what you cut. 😉

Izzy, I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this to you, but since you are half Chinese, you should consider learning Cantonese and come to Hong Kong next year to compete in Miss Hong Kong Pageant 2023. With that beautiful face and smile of yours I am confident you will make it to top three if not the first.

I’m pretty sure with her brains and poise, she’s not interested in flaunting her body or wishes to butter up execs to be an actress for TVB.

@@jinarose5374 I guess Ms Rose never go to beach or sunbathing in a bikini. Miss Hong Kong contest has come a long way. What you are describing are long gone dark ages. If you check Miss Hong Kong Wiki you will find that just two years ago Lisa-Marie Tse, also half Chinese, won the contest and had a couple of years of fun at TVB and is now back in Scotland continuing her nursing career. In 2015, an even more intelligent, academically, than Izzy, lady from HK named Louisa Mak, who also happened to be a Cantabrigian, also won the contest. There is more to life than what meets the eye.

As a male, the worse part of cutting my own hair is managing the back of the head area. Good thing I always wear a baseball hat everywhere. That saves me a lot of time. One time, I thought it would be simpler if I just shaved my head. Big mistake, my hair type is thick and strong like thorn so I couldn't get a good sleep for weeks after that.

If you have your hair a little longer you don't really need to do that, depends at what lenth your trimmers go to. I've got some than do the back and sides at around 35mm and it just looks like my hair has been growing for a little bit. It was when I was cutting my hair at like 20mm that I had to sit there messing around with a mirror which was just hassle, I could do it but it was always a bit risky.
