I hope that I can change my career this year hoping for a better tomorrow. Thank you for you work and I hope that you would be much more successful in the near future!

Creating a repository for an index catalogue of information is absolutely genius. Would you think about making a video on how to make one in the most efficient way since you've probably mastered the best way to do it over the years? I think it would be an amazing tool and help a lot of people!
@Smoljames28 күн бұрын
Haha yea a few people have asked about it so I think that's a great idea :) I'll add it to the list!

I am like a horse now with my eye preventers only following your "road map". You are really doing a heck of a great job, mate and given I've shackled myself in tutorial hell for years, finding your channel and approach is THE breath of fresh air I needed. You really speak the language of "non-programmers". I'm currently working on your Udemy JS course. P.S: Do you still play wow ( classic that is - retail has been dead to me for 6+ years ). Love the WotLK shirts and artwork
@Smoljames24 күн бұрын
Glad you're enjoying the channel and I hope the course also :D And yep I sure do still play haha - I'm a big fan of the game from classic through to MoP so that's where I spend my time haha! Are you playing classic?
@partiboi698823 күн бұрын
@Smoljames @Smoljames I am enjoying your Udemy course a lot. Hands down I am enjoying it more than any other I have used before. Also the approach of having people use their knowledge in 10 exercises at the end of each chapter is a really good seller ( at least for me )
@partiboi698823 күн бұрын
@Smoljames I'd say I love classic from vanilla to work at best haha. I played the 2019 classic all the way until Black Temple when my guild broke up and I realized wow was taking too much of my time and I was also stuck in tutorial help haha. Sadly I had to quit because I can't play it "too chill", but I still peek at what the classic scene is doing from time to time.

The 'How to Learn" really interested me and you've made several mentions of how you make a repository in past videos. Do you have a video or examples of how you've compiled the concepts learned?
@SmoljamesАй бұрын
I'd have a read of this part of the guide as it explains it a bit further! github.com/jamezmca/learn-to-code-land-a-job?tab=readme-ov-file#how-to-learn-most-effectively For example, I have a code base that shows how to setup firebase authentication with a nextjs project, and i have another code base with one line of code that tells me how to sleep a file in JavaScript (because I always forget the exact syntax)! I can't always remember all the specifics but because I know where I've saved demonstrations of the code, I can refer to it whenever super easily :D And when I refer to a code repo enough, i'll end up naturally remembering it and no longer need to look it up which is convenient! And if not, then I always have that resource on demand.

hi james, hopefully you can answer my question. I am currently following your roadmap for 2025. Slogging through html and css. My question is would it be better for me to sell it as just a service maintaining website or find a proper company that can hire me? I've already have a client agreed to make a website for him. Just figuring out what to do or I am just overthinking or being overwhelmed with everything else. Again thank you for your time and your effort.

I'm curious what are your thoughts on starting a sole proprietorship or a company of your own and listing that on your resume? I'm thinking of working on some projects with my friends and listing that under work I've done at a company, I might possibly publish them as well so it generates some revenue.

Im currently stuck on cs50's Substitution. Im pretty sure Ive gotten the whole program written Im just having trouble debugging. I am struggling hard and its infuriating. I keep swinging back and forth from feeling like a genius and feeling like a braindead zombie. It would probably be easier if I just wrote it as a functional but Im trying take a more modular approach. Perhaps if I remove the code from the functions and just get it to work I can figure out how to put it back into functions after.

It would've been good had you just very quickly shown how you are creating and maintaining that index on Github. Just by describing it I cannot fully understand what you mean by that. So just showing yours for half a minute would have made clear what you were describing for several minutes. Maybe that's content for a future video - I'd watch it.

I feel like you skipped through the state of the bad job market too quickly and not thoroughly enough. The main issue is that TOO MANY PEOPLE are trying to break into tech. The amount of people applying for tech roles is the same amount when there were hundreds of thousands of roles in 2021, but with today’s poor market conditions. It doesnt matter how much you level up your skills because EVERYONE ELSE is also doing that too. Telling everyone to learn fullstack development, deploy amazing projects, build a network, etc… only makes the market MORE COMPETITIVE. This doesn’t reduce the insane number of applicants for the singular position. It only makes the pool MORE qualified, thus making you and everyone else standing out LESS. I know that there are a TON of unqualified candidates (likely majority) , but the pool of qualified applicants is still so significantly large, that your chances of landing a job even if you’re qualified is extremely low. We need to STOP glorifying tech as a holy grail of jobs (because IT ISNT).
