I wish all the best to Ed and his family, his builds showed how easy, and inexpensive, it was to build you own experimental aircraft factory.

It's remarkable that they don't have dihedrals.

Excellent constructions, cheap and effective. Where do you buy the colored adhesive tapes?

How do you make sure the plane flies stable? I had my maiden flight attempt yesterday and the drone crashed quite bad. Fuselage is broken in half and to be honest I am experience enough to troubleshoot.

Do you mount the vtol motors directly to servos? Or do you need gearing for them? Or do they just not tilt, and turn off during winged flight?

I enjoy your videos immensely and aspire to build my own someday. That leads me to a question: As someone who is interested in getting into this hobby, I’m a bit lost on what radio control transmitter would not limit me in the future if my intention is to keep expanding capabilities. It seems like a pivotal piece of the puzzle and I don’t want to have to backtrack and then outlay on what I should have bought from the beginning. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A few years ago most got a FRSky Taranis or Spectrum, RadioMaster is, at least in the drone community, getting more attention. They, like the taranis, are module based, so you can change the actual transmitting system if you want to try any more fancy stuff along the way. But don’t waste to much time deciding on that, most systems work just fine nowadays getting to build and finishing the plane/taking the time to fly is way more important :D
