Hey Walker! You're doing an incredible job explaining CFD. Also! You can change the units to your liking in freecad preferences (look it up!). Thank you for making these available, I really agree that information like this should be readily available.

Good to know on the units in the preferences. That will make things less cumbersome. Thank you

I use XFLR5 airfoil analysis and CFD. It is opensource as well. I made like one video on it for a demo haha. It will graph Cd, Cp etc. Its worth looking into. I am watching your videos because i have never used CFD software, even though i understand the math very well, i just have not applied it yet. So hopefully i can understand what you are doing haha

anyone know how to fix "/bin/bash: line 1: cd: C:\Users\mzdra\AppData\Local\Temp\meshCase: No such file or directory" when meshing? I go to that location but there is a meshCase file so I don't know what the error is.

Hi Walker, thank you for the video. How do I go about checking Courant numbers in Free Cad?

Hi there, enjoyed your previous video and wanted to try the same in ansys and compare results. From this video I assume you made it on your own, but is there a possibility for you to share your solidworks file or mention where you got the dimensions from? Also have to mention that its pretty nice you made this tutorial, I would have appreciated it a few years ago.

Yes, I made the models myself, so they’re not perfect. I don’t want to put them up publicly out of respect for Shirl Dickey’s ERACER plans, but for those willing to go through the extra step of asking, I’m happy to share. Send me an email at walkerweathersyt@gmail.com so I have yours and I can send the wings or the whole aircraft.

So I mean a few small comments - that simulation is not really properly converged. Pushing the residuals down x3 orders is whats often suggested, but in practice, most people push them down until they stop decreasing OR monitors describing the most important quantities of interest are stable. What that results, you'd have a reasonably resolved pressure field and maybe the freestream velocities, but your boundary layer velocities (which describe your separation, viscous drag etc as I'm sure you know) are likely still quite far off. Second, and as maybe alluded to, when it comes to CFD, your primitive (primary) flow variables, are going to most accurate - so you could quite easily trust the pressures and pressure derived quantities (lift, pressure drag), as long as the flow is attached, and well as probably the velocities, again as long as things are behaving themselves nicely (ie not separated etc) .. especially with a nice low speed incompressible simulation like this.

I have also been diving deep into this subject and have a few planes for you to try out in your crd that I have been tweaking. let me know how I can contact you.
