Hello guys, i'm Jerry's grandson and just found this KZbin account today. Unfortunately Jerry has passed as some others have stated in the comments, and i never knew how great the reach of his work with these plants were. As a kid during our visits I always saw them in amazement and i'm very glad to see that there is a way he can still teach others for many more days to come. I hope you all can gain some form of knowledge from what he has posted and wish you the best of luck. For those curious i was able to find a new home for his plants, they were relocated to San Francisco.

Hey Jonathan, so sorry for your loss and my condolences go out to your family along with Joann's. Glad you have found his KZbin as I was getting into these plants myself a bit before the news. I followed for a long time after looking for updates of the outcome and glad of what was awarded by the courts. Any idea who got ahold of the plants for tracking purposes by chance? You can contact me personally if you wish.

Did this to my ventrata and one of the cuttings struck a growth point after a week. Still hasn’t grown any roots after two weeks but it definitely struck a growth point.

Very informative. What is the temperature range in the greenhouse? Also, have you ever found that if left to long the nepenthe roots actually rot being in the water? Or would they grow in defiantly in the water.

Now we know how Brad became so good with plants, if Brad was here then JerJack was simply being modest when he said he didn't consider himself a Pro, Looks like JerJack was the shit if Brad was here asking him questions. Rest in peace JerJack, the guy who I've learned most of what I know about carnivorous plants was here learning from you, so you damn well most certainly were the shit when it came to these amazing plants, thank you for all you have shared with us, I wish I could have called you friend.

I am very sad to hear that Jerjack and his wife has passed away. Can someone post the link to the memorial? Thank you. I also wanted to say I used this technique on my Nepenthes Miranda, which is a fairly large plant and got a success rate of 5 out of 7 cuttings putting out roots and it took roughly one month for really small roots and two months for larger root formation. I've found that I have a better success rate if the vine had pitchers on it (which I've cut off for propagation) and the tip of the vine, which has the most growth stored up in it. I need to pot them up soon as they are still sitting in water. The mother plant is doing well and has branched out where I have taken the cutting.

oh! how does the mother plant continue growing if the top is cut off?
@alexparris77697 жыл бұрын
Nepenthes are like most other herbaceous vines. If you cut the apical meristem, it forces growth from the axial positions (a new shoot from each node). The cut end will just scab up and the new shoot will take over all growth

I have learned so much over the last few weeks when having a chance to view his videos. Very shocking to suddenly realize through reading the comments of others that he and his wife were murdered. Such feelings of sadness and anger within me for this family, One thing I know is whoever done this will stand before judgement someday, I wanna be there really really badly to watch.
