Empty "liquid ink" pens like Pilot V Ball are good as the ink is water based, so if you leave the empty pen in the sun or on a radiator for a few days, it will dry out completely. There is no risk then of remnant rogue ink marking the paper like happens with oil based ball pens . If you make a small pin hole in the barrel before you place, it on the radiator or whatever, it will help allow moisture to escape more easily and speed drying. I have a few in different ball sizes and I discard their caps once prepared as a stylus, so I know which ones they are.
