In 2011 i dislocated my c5/6 vertebra crushing my spinal cord leaving me a tetraplegic - wheelchair bound. i decided to talk about it in my words as it was such a significant change to my life and my journey to a new life in a wheelchair started. i talk for a while so make a coffee get a beer or indulge in a nice glass of wine and i hope you get something out of it :)

I was hit on my motorcycle 20 years ago Cody. I'm a T6 and had several other injuries (Jaw, arm, leg, ribs, etc). I spent 4 months in the hospital and rehab unit and was quite reluctant to go home. How bizarre this new life was. I've learned since then that I was going to die anyway, even if I remained healthy and whole. Our Spirit is eternal, these bodies are merely temporal. We need to focus on our eternity, not this momentary flesh experience. I'm still learning about the amazing Creator that made all of this and is it ever mind blowing! I hope that you keep that awesome attitude of yours Cody, you're an inspirational young man. Take care Cody, God bless you!!!

I’ve seen your two videos nine years after your accident now, and am blown away by your progress and approach to life. At nearly seventy years old now, I was extremely independent and self sufficient until a friend I married an old friend when we were forty. I contracted a serious illness within a year which went chronic and got disabled. Now my balance is requiring walkers and wheelchairs, and my hands are limited; can’t write or type or work in my shop on projects, do my gardening and landscaping. My “sell by date” was twenty years ago, but I declined to go peaceably and am still kicking butt...though not as often 😏. Things are very different! I’m having trouble adapting. Probably since I’m old (grin). I loved hearing about your approach to dealing with your issues and coming up with solutions. I can assure you I’ll watch again and try to catch your can-do spirit! All my best!

I am inquisitive auntie what could you contract to make you that way ,I would like to research on that. Only if it's not too personal if it is just ignore my comment, I wish you well and all the happiness in life not withstanding what you have to endure because of that.

awh the coach knew exactly what to do how amazing. if no-one knew to hold your neck you could have had a lot less movement. props to him, and obviously yourself for staying strong and pushing through. i know it’s just your life but honestly you’re so inspirational.

I was 15 years old when I was suddenly told I had a rapidly progressing form of scoliosis. I was given a surgery date two weeks later and told that the surgery was dangerous and there is a chance I’d become paralyzed. They drilled this point into me, that paralyzation was a definite risk but of course at 15 I wasn’t even concerned. I didn’t wake up from the surgery for 2 weeks. Spent my 16th birthday in a body cast and for several months after. I look back now and realize how lucky I am to be able to walk and live a fully functional life with no paralysis. But at the time it sucked not being like every other 16 year old. Walking around in a full cast and in pain for months was mentally very hard. I think it’s so important that we all share our stories because we never know where life will lead us. Your story is extremely important for people to see and thank you for sharing.

Cody, thanks for sharing your life with us. I have just a few questions if that is ok. Did you feel the tattoo needle on your arm? Are you able to become a father? Is that an earring or a tattoo in your ear? Do you still have your 2 dogs? Thanks!!
