As a male, I'll shave my arms and chest before going to the ER because the adhesive that secures IV's and heart monitor leads hurts badly when they rip it off. If they remove hair for the heart monitor leads, it's a very uncomfortable dry shave that chafes and yanks hair. Getting a GJ tube terrifies me, due to mold and other complications. Hoping the Mestinon (Pyridostigmine) continues to be effective at treating my gastroparesis and POTS. If I ever do need one, I'm thankful that you've posted so many helpful videos. Thanks for posting these!

I’m female, and in the process of getting closer to the diagnoses of POTS (luckily on a plateau in progression). I have hEDS and other things, but luckily haven’t been to the ER (yet). I am still somewhat young though, so who knows when that’ll change. Wishing you luck though on treatment, and hope you stay on that track

OH MY WORD GIRL SAME- I might be admitted to the hospital tonight or tomorrow, and I totally shaved today cuz it was bad (with my Dysautonomia side, shaving hurts so I only shave when needed)

I really only go to the ER when i am literally dying so i never can handle showering right before but i tam at the doctors so often i just try too always be shaved lol

Omg YES I’m the same with shaving!!! If I have time and am “well enough”, I always try to shave before the ER/admit/OR/etc. I thought I was the only one!!

Feel you on the Fair dilemma, my grandparents lived off Dixie Trail and we'd visit them every year at Fall Break and it was a nightmare. Glad you're doing better, the weather is too nice and cool now to be in the hospital.

I'm glad there was nothing serious going on with your tube. I hope you're feeling better. No way do I take the time to shave before going to the hospital. I throw on a pair of thick knee socks. I once had a nurse tell me I needed to shave. Things like makeup and shaving aren't important when I'm heading to the hospital. I do pack a bag and leave it in the car if I think I might have to stay. I bring yoga pants and tank tops to wear. They've always let me wear them unless I just had surgery. If I'm cold I'll put on a sweatshirt or a big sweater.

I stopped shaving senior year of high school and I haven’t gone back. It takes so much time and I have weirdly soft leg hair? Maybe that’s an EDS thing? No one else in my family has soft leg hair? I did however regret not owning a razor after I had a cardiac ablation because the nurse shaved my groin and my goodness she did such a bad job and I don’t own a razor so I couldn’t clean it up afterwards lol
