Where I hunt they eat all the red cedar, pines, junipers and small needled spruce. I know it’s because they need better browse and that’s what I’m working on. Great info !

Great info thanks! That's exactly what I have been working on getting started on my property along with my switch grass pockets.

Really enjoying your channel! Would you mind sharing what kind of drone you’re using for your overhead footage? I’m looking to buy one to help survey my land up north.

I use the DJI Mini 2. They have a new model out but this one has done great for me up until it had a mother board issue but they fixed it and shipped it both ways for free without me paying for the warranty so can't say enough about their customer service. This is the one I have: amzn.to/3kH4Hlg

Did you cage off the red osier dogwood to protect from deer and get them established?

I did fence them off from spring until mid/late summer when the food plot got going. I still ended up with some browse pressure on them but nothing too bad.

If you don't mind me asking how many acres are you working with there

In SE WI I'm just working with the back 1 acre of a parcel which is why screening is so important there. On my NW WI property, I have a lot more room but it's in the big woods so food is king there. I tend to use topography to cut down on sight lines there so I don't have to focus as much on establishing screening.

@@HobbyHarvest Thank you for the reply. I just bought 10 acres in southern Illinois that was planted in beans last year. I am planning on frost seeding switch grass for cover since the property is surrounded by Ag.

@@MOKayakFishing I got my GSP from southern Illinois a few years ago. That habitat down there is just like everywhere else; give them what they don't have. So if you're in big open agg, give them cover and food and you'll get your pick of the crop.

Ag often becomes desert after harvest, so your small area could be a major attraction afterward...maybe coincident with the hunting season.
