To all nurses reading this!your job (the actual job you are working now) does not have to be the end of your nursing career. There is more out there.Try school nurse,visiting nurse,home health,home care,insurance nurse! There is more out there than those 4 hospital walls!

Your comment spoke out to me the most because I literally said, "there's got to be more than those hospital walls" to my friend. I'll take this as a sign thank you.

When I was first starting out in college I kept switching my major. I did that for about 3-4 years. I finally just stopped and simply asked God, the one who created me in the first place, what is it that he had in mind for me to do from the beginning. Within a week of asking God what my purpose is I recieved an answer through a random phone call. God is a very present help in time of trouble. He is not so far from us that he won’t answer our questions and concerns. “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” James 1:5 NLT And I am thankful to God that my passion and my purpose are the same! And I also believe a career is only one small portion of what God has called us to do 😊

I really needed this video! I am in a similar situation. I am a compassionate person that wants to connect with people and create harmony in someone’s life . I graduated as a licensed elementary teacher but realized it was not the best way to live out my passion. Your passion/purpose sounds similar to mine! I am going back to school to work in higher education or non profit so I can advise/mentor college students. I will keep on my journey which will probably lead me to many jobs that allow me to live out my purpose from different angles! I wish you the best and look forward to your videos!

Heyyy Amara!!! Ahhh just gotta say I love your name! It's close to my daughters name(Amira)!! Anywho!! I absolutely love that and commend you on taking the necessary steps to pursue your purpose! Those college students need you! I know when I went to college I was advised by the wrong people and ended up taking classes I shouldn't have! If you're on instagram I would love to follow you and keep up with you! Hopefully I can be of some support. My IG is: @randomlyonic . Thank You so much for the well wishes too! ❤️❤️

Based on what im hearing from you, the following careers may suit you best: Teaching, Counseling, Social Work or a Non-Profit. I was in the same boat as you. Im almost 27 year old. I went to college and probably changed my major 10 times and im settling for Information Systems. But looking back, I should have just stuck with Business Administration because I believe my passion/calling is business, but I spent so much time already in school and a degree in Information Systems gives me one of the quickest path's to finish my degree and it's not a worthless degree, plenty of I.T jobs available.

I felt the same with nursing... It was more about medication than patient care and that didn't sit well with me
@RandomlyOniC5 жыл бұрын
Did you find it hard to give medication knowing you felt uneasy?? (Asking because I thought I was the only person who felt this way)
@summersalix5 жыл бұрын
@@RandomlyOniC It was really hard, especially on the unit I was on (medical-oncology), which had some very sick people, and many of the meds were contributing to them not feeling well (ie, one patient was on 5 different BP meds... Why?! Overkill). I lean holistic, so it was quite a conflict. I then went into the school system and was a 1:1 nurse and then classroom nurse for special needs kids, which was more my fit. I also was a school nurse for an alternative school, which was interesting. But overall, nursing isn't for me. I love caring for others, but nursing changed... It used to be pt focused, but medicine is more of a business now than healthCARE

Our purpose is unique to us. Be confident in your purpose with yourself FIRST before you reveal to others about it. Everyday of living and the way we live our lives determines whether we will feel fulfilled or not in our purpose. Keep striving. Don't give up. (Speaking to myself too!) I do know that impacting others in my own way is part of my purpose and I am figuring it out. I am passionate about cooking, music and family.

Natasha!!! You are ON IT!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Now, cooking-music and family!!! There are soooo many things you can do with all of that!! Let me know when you're ready to get things going! I have some ideas for ya 😉😉 You're already impacting others---starting with me! I learn from you when you comment--so I hope you realize you're already doing that! Now it's time to take it a step further!

I'm trying to find my purpose.. I noticed from working in the hospital patients and co workers gravitate to me when it comes to venting, and getting advice from and never knew why. BUT...I have a passion in guiding others.. but I just need to find what I'm designed to do..I enjoy giving ppl advice on things i experienced. but idk what I'm suppose to do with that

So what do you do for a living now?
@cloudydaze18955 жыл бұрын
So what do you do for work now? If you don’t mind me asking, because I’m lost, I have just graduated ungrad, and I’m turning 25. I took so many years off hence why I’m graduating so late. But even now I feel like I only went to college so I can get ungrad done. But I really want to do something else. It’s interesting I came across your videos because I was thinking I wish I did nursing because I would at least have a job straight after leaving college. With my correct degree there are no real job prospects without further education

Look into Occupational Therapy! I'm in Law Enforcement and I am in the same boat as you. Thinking about a career change. I have to start from square one though and get a bachelors and a masters
@summersalix5 жыл бұрын
I've been considering this too. Whag made u decide on OT vs PT? I'm torn between the two!
@mirandarodriguez16625 жыл бұрын
@@summersalix I think helping people get back to their daily life is amazing! And you deal with more upper body movements. You can also help people manage their stress levels and things of that nature. Idk, I just kind of like that more 😁
@RandomlyOniC5 жыл бұрын
Another person in the comments mentioned this as well. I never had an interest in occupational therapy. When I use to volunteer a lot - I had a chance to work with them and never really seemed to be interested. I think like nursing, with OT you need to be all in! Do you know what career yet or right now weighing out a few options?! Just a little note: It may seem like you're starting from square one but you're starting ahead of square one because you have experience in another area!! Your experience in law enforcement will be useful in whatever you change to!
@mirandarodriguez16625 жыл бұрын
@@RandomlyOniC I'm just weighing out the options right now. I had attended Texas Tech University from 2010-2012 and I messed up and stopped going to classes. Now is my chance to start over but I still don't really know what I want to do. I can technically get a criminal justice degree for free because the school pays and theres grants out there for that but I just don't know if I want to continue law enforcement. Do I go with a degree just cause its almost free or do I do something I might want... I plan to shadow an OT though, I think I'm going to speak with one tomorrow. wish me luck
