Love your setup! I've only been on KZbin for about 6 weeks now, and I've already learned a lot by "learning by doing" as far as audio & video improvement, but I truly appreciate your transparency to help us never peeps on here out by sharing your wisdom/experience. Who else thinks that is amazingly generous? Thanks again, am taking notes! Planning to improve, one video at a time!

VERY AWESOME VIDEO!!! I loved it!! It really helped me to get knowledge of what kind of equipment to use. I am just a beginner and a teenager. I also have an art channel, and I use one of those middle school locker shelf and an adjustable computer stand where I put my phone on. I use that as my overhead camera. So, I just wanted to let you were an inspiration to me, which forced me to do something else during these hard times, Again, I thank you and hope you become more successful in the future.......wait....you already are!! If any one is looking for a really cheap option you can use soup cans. My mom cleans out soup cans sometimes to use for crafts and stuff so I have a box of them in my art room. I just stack them up then use it to record with on my phone. It doesn’t give a compelte overhead look like a tripod would and it does film at angle but it’s a good starting point if your just starting out and not sure if you want to do speed paints and stuff yet. I plan on asking for a tripod for Christmas but at the moment this is a good option for me. And for lights I just use one of the bendable lamp lights. I bought one that clips onto my desk from target for like 5-7 bucks I think? Maybe 10? I’m not sure I got it about a year or two ago. It obviously doesn’t give as even as light as a ring light or professional lighting would but it’s a good cheap option to try This video was extremely helpful though thank you I’ll definitely look at some of the stuff you use in the future

I have an old lamp stand that I use as my camera mount. I duct tapped a small 12 inch tripod to it. ☺ The camera I have for it is an old $200 camera from 2014. And because I only have one room where live, i don't have the space for a drawing desk in addition to my computer desk. So I cut up a 2.5 foot by 1.5 foot old box as my drawing desk and I position it's edge to rest between the edges of my bed and my computer desk. 😜 I also don't yet have the money for Adobe Premiere, so I use windows movie maker. My hope is that in just a few years, I'll be able to get all the neat stuff in this video. But for now, I'm making it work. ☺

Hey Kirsty, fab video. I’ve started uploading videos that I current film on my iPad. I’m definitely going to invest in the boom arm for my camera to start using that instead of my iPad. I also need to get some lights
@Abdullah-mx9cn3 жыл бұрын
I like your videos 😊 . Could you do a video about how to make shadows and lightning with colored pencils? Because I see a lot of people doing for example a blue base layer and than going over with black and then looks like there is light on this black object. It would be helpful to have tips how to know wich colors to use to do that effect
@FineArtforChrist3 жыл бұрын
The effect you are talking about is created by a drastic difference in your values not the colors you use. So if your highlights are really light and your shadows are really dark you should achieve a similar result. I hope this is helpful!

CONTENT SUGGESTION: HOW TO MAKE EYES LOOK HAPPY IN YOUR DRAWING I'm always struggling with eyes, for me they look the same, even their position in grid lines are precise but the eyes on my reference look happier than my drawing. I hope you can help us with that. Thank you Kirsty🥰
@FineArtforChrist3 жыл бұрын
Hey Thea, if you are still struggling with your eyes looking happy try turning your reference and drawing upside down. This will trick you brain into seeing it for the values and shapes that it is made up of rather than an eye.This may cause you to notice that something is out of place or that your values could be more accurate. Hope this is helpful!
