Great video, bud. A lot of young pups will see this and be inspired. Just think about how far video production has come in our lifetime. Kids will be producing some amazing things in the future... and I believe you are one of the people who will have influenced many of them. Good stuff.

It would be great to also do more videos on how you plan content, on techniques you use to get good shots... You're a wealth of quility video you compile.

Great Video, what would u recommend for me. I plan long long days on the water fishing for muskies. Ideally I would like to capture my whole day and hopefully clip and highlight visible follows and strikes as well as fish landed. I would prefer minimum time to edit post filming. If I go with new GoPro 11 I am looking at 90 minutes record time?? I would prefer not changing batteries every 90 minutes. Any suggestions? USB connector maybe then clip on a full windshield with flexible mount

I know this video is several years old at this point, but the content is still helpful for people getting started. I would echo your thoughts on not needing much gear to have fun filming a day on the water. I just have a Hero 9 and a Hero 4 Session and I'm able to capture enough to make fun videos for myself, family, and friends. I'm not at all trying to make a career out of it so minimal gear works fine. One addition to this video that would have been helpful is a little more explanation on why you choose to shoot in certain resolutions and frame rates. For example, the back cam... why did you choose 2.7k at 60fps? I think most guys doing it for fun like me would be ok shooting in 1080p at 30fps. Save yourself some memory space. I shot some video a couple weeks ago in 1080p and 4k with my Hero 9 and really the difference was pretty minimal. Obviously the 4k is better, but yeah, for most people I really think the 1080p is going to be just fine. Also, unless you are really trying to get some smooth slow motion and want to spend the time editing then you don't need 60fps. Another good tip... learn to use your highlight keys (like what is on the GoPro) to save yourself some time in edit trying to find the action shots you want in your video.

Great video!!! What do you use for hero 4 battery to not charge?
@Bulldog21086 жыл бұрын
Cheers for the video Jay. I have a youtube channel which I use gopro heros 4's for everything. The fact I have only got a gopro puts me off making videos sometimes because of how restrictive it is. We are a UK shore fishing channel. This means we are often fishing in the dark and in the rain, which makes filming difficult any way. Shore fishing is also a pretty messy affair with bait and tidal mud and so on again adding to the difficulty of making videos. One of the problems I have is that shore fishing is no guarantee as is all fishing but staying motivated to create content and portray the story after 5 session with no fish can be challenging lol. Anyway my question regarding gopros is, do you leave your go pro running until the battery/memory card runs out to ensure you catch every moment or do you switch them on and off? Cheers Jay Tight Lines!! Fishing Brothers

I learned a lot. I have a question though. How many FPS is your finalized video? I'm new to filming and understand the high FPS for the slow motion, but can't work the math with the 24 FPS and the 60 FPS? Does it work because you are splicing small clips together?
@JaySiemens6 жыл бұрын
I edit my videos in a 24fps timeline (sequence). 60 FPS I can slow down to 40% on a 24 FPS timeline and it still works. 240 FPS I can slow down to 10%. Does that make sense? Just because it's filmed in a higher frame doesn't mean you need to slow it down. You can play it at 100% speed, it will just take out the extra frames.
@RadReelingFishing6 жыл бұрын
Alright, I think I get it. You are at 60 FPS just in case you want to create some partial slowmotion with that footage, but it can still be combined with the 24 FPS and used at 100 percent speed and the editing software automatically takes out the extra frames from the 60FPS...

I've got a question on your protune settings. Do you lock the shutter speed double your frame rate like you would a DSLR, or do you just let the GoPro do it's thing with the iso/frame rate and only worry about white balance and sharpening? I got a skeleton frame that allowed for an ND filter, and have been trying to lock the frame rate and using the ND filter....but I'm finding with the GoPro it's almost too much worry about. Thanks for the awesome content! This video has been super helpful. Look forward to more content all the time.
@JaySiemens5 жыл бұрын
I personally haven’t played with shutter speed locking on gopros, like you said, I just lock WB and pull back the sharpening.
