Over 10 years ago I retired as a photographer. I have taught this same class too many times count. Very nice updated equipment for making tried and true images and video. The info is timeless and you present it well. Good job.

Totally going to steal that lighting reveal with the shadow. I've tried to do that a bunch of times by hand holding an LED light and moving that over the watch, never occurred to me to do the opposite and move the shadow instead of the light...

Very well done Elle! Very informative and in a language that can be understood using lights and items for reflectors. I would have been tempted to talk about apertures and depth if field and that certainly would not have worked for people starting out. One suggestion when using two opposing lights though, try one of them at 1/2 the power of the other (one F stop difference for the techies out there) or just place one of them further away, that might help to show dial textures a little more but without harsh shadowing. You probably to this already and it might have been a tad much for the 1st beginner video. Bottle corks can also be useful to raise the watch head above the display platform to defocus the back ground a little more than bottle caps. Anyway I apologise for waffling. This video is a great idea. I'm looking forward to more.

Super interesting and helpful. Even though my channel isn't "watch" related, taking good photos of scale models requires a similar process. I don't do a lot of straight down photos but how you adjust for glare is something I hadn't thought about. Thanks for the video, have a great weekend. -David

For someone who hasn't done this type of content before, you did a dam fine job. I will probably never do anything like what you do, but you explained your process very well. Easy to understand for a novice. I found your main channel several months ago, and really enjoy your watch, and boot reviews. Now I have another channel to sub to. Keep it up Elle. You're doing a fine job.

Great tutorial, beautiful gradient on the Breitling background. Wouldn't like to put a pricey watch on that stack of boxes on the edge of a table though, recipe for disaster.

Super impressive. I just found your channel and subscribed. I do have a host of questions though. I know you started your other channel about a year ago but what is your background? Did you have photo and video experience before? What about editing software experience? And you sound so natural in your videos, do you use a script or are you winging it? I started my watch channel about 8 months ago and I am constantly trying to balance improving while also reducing the amount of time it take me to produce one video. How long did it take you to produce your first video, how long does it take you now to produce a video, and do you have any recommendations for producing quality content in a reasonable amount of time? Keep up the amazing work. 😁😁

Wow there’s a lot to unpack here. Most of these questions I will cover in future videos very soon ( script versus bullet points, editing software, my workflow,etc. ) I did cover a little bit about my background in my Q and A video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3XUYYqPgrKsa8U if you’re curious 👀

Great video, I always wondered where do you get shots or clips of watch content that you have not shot yourself and still follow copyright rules, are you subscribed to a site or do you reach out to others for permission ?
@elle_grant
@elle_grant Жыл бұрын
That’s a great question! ☺️ Going over all the ins and outs of “fair use “ here would require a few paragraphs. The short answer is I don’t need to ask for permission. All the footage I use in my videos either falls under “fair use” or is stock footage that I paid for a license to use. I will definitely unpack this topic in a future video, thanks 👍🏻
