I completely agree with what you said at the end, life is too short not to enjoy your hair! I spent years being overly cautious with my hair to the point where I dreaded wash day and didn't even like the way it looked. The more I experiment, the more I have gotten to know how my hair works and its much more manageable for me.

My hair shed heavily randomly like a month after getting the keratin complex keratin treatment. My stylist did the aphogee two step treatment and my shedding went back to normal. Hair was saved thank God.

I’ve also done keratin treatments and some parts of my hair turned straight/ wavy but they originally were curly. Did your hair revert back to normal or did they stay straight/wacy?

Hey hun, add some bond repair treatments to your routine, like K18, redken bond treatment, curls smith bond salve etc. They're on the pricey side but will help repair the broken bonds that are deeper in the hair cortex. Aphogee just fills in the gaps in the cuticle, but it doesn't go deeper than that.

I am so glad for you that your hair turned out so much better than what it was. Good job. Don't use aphogee too often.

Looking at it I would think moisture is needed. Still watching because I’m interested in seeing if more protein helps.

It’s all about the used products. I have 4c hair and i switched to olaplex products as soon as I started having keratin treatments. (Olaplex 3,4&5) once a week. It actually helped with keeping my hair soft, healthy and helped with the growth! I switched to Pantene for 2 months since I ran out of olaplex and it completely ruined my hair : breakage, extreme scalp dryness , itchh hi y scalp scalp and so much shedding. I could literally feel my hair snap as I was brushing it. Please use quality hair products and stay away from the heat !

Rinsing my hair in herbal tea and apple cider vinegar or green tea and apple cider vinegar causes my hair to instantly stop shedding, especially in the Fall.

There is a hair company that I discovered a few months ago on social media and I noticed a big improvement in my hair she has her own website and she uses only natural ingredients nothing artificial in any of her products the company is called the Atlanta Hair Doctor she is based in the United States 🇺🇸 and her products are doing wonders for my hair so far you should really try her products out. I love your videos and I learned about the best at home keratin treatment to use in my hair because of your information thank you.

I have bleached hair & keratin. My hair is pretty healthy, BUT I have a strict routine. I only color twice a year: bleach & 20vol I do keratins 3x a year but ONLY on low heat 375deg F and I don’t go over the blonde with the flat iron, just the roots I use the aphogee two step once every month. DO NOT brush it in lol And I mainly wear wash n gos with Pantene smooth conditioner only, no gel. Don’t know if these tips will be useful at all, but wishing you and your hair the best.

Hahaha you got me with the brushing it in- wanted to make sure each strand was fully coated but in hindsight wasn't the best idea! thanks so much for sharing, and the fact you do 3X keratins a year! I was starting to think it might have to be a yearly thing, but might have to adopt some of your tips around not going over the blonde sections with the straighteners x

Glad you noticed it’s the bleach. Only the bleached part broke. You can’t add keratin to nothin (a bleached out cuticle).
@guitarsz11 ай бұрын
I have heard that keratin treatments are only damaging if the hair is already damaged or brittle because you’re applying the heat in damaged hair. ..My guess is the bleaching really weakened your hair to begin with. But I don’t know, just a guess. I hope it gets better for you. it may be best to cut off all the blond part.

Ive stopped the keratin treatments. Here is what I’ve done wrong. I’ve bleached my hair multiple time a year. I have used to much heat while going over all my previous straight and bleached hair every time I’ve done the treatment. I’ve changed the brand multiple times. Got lazy with my hair care. Don’t do this if you want long lasting results. Best of luck 🤞

Protein treatment should be done at least once a month. When your curls don't formulate like they used to, that's when you should do this. I do mine at the end of each month (and if I should forget) at the beginning of the next month. The key is to remember to do this and write it down on a piece of paper so that you have something to refer back to.

Cut the bleaching part .use k18 for 6 months then u can bleach ur hair when ur hair is stronger
@Indira809 Жыл бұрын
I think the bleach is what’s damaging your hair. Keratin twice a year doesn’t seem to be it. In my opinion of course. Keep doing the protein treatment once a month.
@KeratinandCurls Жыл бұрын
Yep think it could be a few things- in my last video I did a whole analysis of what could have caused it! thanks for the comment x
@Flynnstarr3 ай бұрын
I saw in your 6 things good about the treatment is you leave your hair one week after treatment before washing it. That will break your hair. You should wash after 48 hrs and before 72hrs after the treatment. Because the keretin builds up too much and does what it did to your hair.

I enjoy her updates but keratin treatments do not damage hair. While applying the keratin treatment or after, if you use excessive heat your hair will become damaged. And bleach, any professional hair stylist will tell you is the worst thing you can do to your hair. I also know this from my own experience of bleaching my. hair several times in the past. You can bleach your hair but you have to be beyond diligent with bond repair treatments and balancing the moisture/protein. Bleach is super high maintenance and should only be done if you're going to a professional stylist on a regular basis..
@KeratinandCurls11 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment! I think you're right that there can be lots of factors at play that could have made my hair more brittle- I went through what some of these could have been in my last video- heat used when I did the treatment, my old hairdryer, my aftercare, and the treatment itself. The reason I don't think it was just the bleach is because my hair was brittle all over- not just the bleached sections. I personally still really like keratin treatments and I do think they can help your hair grow over time, but I also think they have the potential to cause a degree of damage- either through the heat application, over processing ect. But think it can vary for different hair types- and I have quite fine hair. For me it wasn't anything huge though as I was able to get my hair back to normal after this treatment and I will still get another one in the future! Just wanted to show to be transparent with my experience x

Wishing you luck. Excuse the unsolicited advice but, be sure you are combing your hair often enough. If you only comb it on wash day, maybe try washing your hair more often. An hour to comb your hair seems unnecessarily long for hair like yours.

Stop using the Aphogee. You might have protein overload avoid protein products.
@KeratinandCurls Жыл бұрын
Hey, yes heard this can be an issue! but I actually experienced the breakage before I used Aphogee. Aphogee was actually what fixed it (it was my first time using it!). But you're right about the risk of protein overload, which is why I waited until 6 months after the treatment to use it!

Yeahh looks like the treatment definitely helped and did not cause any problems after I love your hair it looks amazing 😍 😉 🏳️🌈💯

I think it’s the bleach. There is nothing inside of the hair to grab the keratin. All of it has been bleached out. Don’t use the black keratin treatment on your texture of bleached hair! No more bleach.

@@KeratinandCurls question- did you wait 6mo after your keratin treatment to use aphogee? or 6 mo after the initial time you used aphogee? i think the same thing happened to my hair as yours- i just got a keratin treatment and the bleached ends are just breaking off. the top part looks fine but the bleach part is destroyed. not sure if theres something i can do to fix but don't want to risk protein overload
