So many people don't understand how far diet and walking can get them. You don't have to go out the door on day 1 and do 10 miles either. In fact, you don't even have to go out the door. You can walk around in your own place for a while.

I walk a minimum of 10,000 steps per day. I advise anyone overweight to begin walking even if it's only for 15 minutes per day. Get used to it then set your goals. Stick on a podcast and away you go. I got terrible Shin splints as my body was not used to it however as the weight comes off the strength increases. I'd also recommend a step counter. After a bit of time l stepped up and and downloaded my fitness pal. I wanted to create a calorie deficit without going on some type of crash diet and suffer mentally. I stuck to 2500 calories and 10000 steps per day. And the weight started to come off. My mental health improved my mobility improved. It can be done. The key thing and advice ld give is! Consistency. Build up to your targets and stay consistent and don't beat yourself up.

This is such a good message! There was recently an article in the biggest Finnish newspaper where they interviewed a legendary sports coach who brought up how important the basics are even for the top level athletes. He even said that in Finland the coaches and athletes have lost the understanding and knowledge of endurance training. In his opinion, for example, many hockey players lack basic endurance. He puts players who seek his personal coaching and guidance to walk 😊

I went from 155kg to 115 in 7 months, then back to 152kg, got down to 103 last Christmas but now I’m 122kg & every day I say “I’ll start tomorrow” but I can only last 2 days max at dieting. Can’t even get motivated to exercise anymore. Walking is too boring after about 20 minutes I get demotivated and when I go on the exercise bike I can do an hour at a good pace but again it feels like it takes forever

Walking is probably z2 if you're 190kg? I think it's good because, it's free and you don't need to fret about equipment. Big guys are always asking about weight limits on bikes on cycle forums and saddle issues etc and I often think "just walk until you're under the weight limit for the bike you like" and running is a tough sport and very injury prone. So yeah, I think you did the right thing - well, obviously whatever works is the right thing and what you did worked. I'd suggest people walk, and then eventually add cycling or running when walking feels super easy because it'll likely plateau weight loss as you lose weight and get fitter and you'll need something that pushes your HR into z2.
@RyanCondon2 ай бұрын
Walking can be a zone 2 workout even if you're not Obese. Thanks for watching.
@michael12 ай бұрын
@@RyanCondon Maybe, but it's far less likely. If you live where it's very hilly perhaps. For most people z2 is going to be jogging.
