How I Fixed osu! Lag ONCE AND FOR ALL.

‼EDIT: It seems that some people are having trouble with osu! cleaner and their beatmaps being corrupted/deleted. This is very surprising since it never happened to me in 5+ years, but if you still want to use this tool I've now linked the older version in the description, which should work with no problems :) I also cut off the osu! cleaner section from this video entirely to avoid any more trouble for new viewers, sorry about that! P.S: you can also try and enable XMP in your BIOS to max out RAM speed, really helps and should be safe (thanks twitch chat!)

i used to have really high lag spikes and input latency but after i turned on "compatibility mode" it all went gone. it says that it can increase input latency but for me it decreased. so good. but if you turn it on its kind of a pain to turn on osu in fullscreen cuz it will minimize constantly for 0-7 times. but genarally there isnt any problem when your playing

Please read if you suffer from frequent stuttering!: Make sure your power plan is of course set to high performance or ultimate performance but next to the power plan, click "change plan settings" and then "change advanced power settings". Then go to "USB settings" and make sure USB selective suspend is set to disabled. Next, open device manager. At the bottom you should see "Universal serial bus controllers" and expand it. Starting from the bottom, double click on each device and in the "Power management" tab, UNCHECK "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". You can also do this for items listed under "Network adapters", "Mice and pointing devices", "Keyboards" and also "Human interface devices". What this does is prevent any device from powering off as some devices tend to turn off and then immedietly turn back on which results in a stutter. I cannot recommend this enough as I've experienced nasty stuttering in both Windows 10 and 11 before applying this fix. There are a lot of tweaks that don't really change anything but this one definitely works!

Spazza i hope you see this as this has helped me a lot input delay i used to play with was around 1-1.2ms ( which is still decently good ) but there is a way to change the frame limit in unlimited to run at a lower frame rate ( like vsync) but not get the bad performance from it it lowered my ms from what i was to around 0.5ms ( huge difference ) i can figure out how to do it again and show you if you would like :) - ps love the content and enjoyed playing in the drunkdear giveaway stream :)

Tip for those with weaker CPUs on win10: try opening resource monitor and suspending sppsvc service, as it sometimes can chunk on CPU usage way too much. When I did this, osu! completely stopped stuttering and even ended up being more responsive. NOTE: sppsvc service is important to be fully running for some apps and games with anti-cheats, making this approach unfeasible if you want to play games like valorant and similar, and also, every time your reboot your PC, that service will automatically get unsuspended, so when you restart, it's back to normal.

7:20 dont do the high/ultra performance modus. Its for developer to test the systhem. All it does is set ur PC components to Work on 100% full time. Ur componets go into High performence automaticly when u play a game so the Only thing it does is shorten the lifetime of ur PC. IT WILL NOT GIVE U MORE FPS!!!!

Just want to give my experience as a lazer player on linux, I really don't need to do anything it just runs good. My system is weaker than the one in this video but with multiple tabs in firefox, discord, steam and a few other apps open I can very easily get 1000fps at 1080p (also I am running lazer with the vulkan API). But I still stick with the 8x frame limit (600fps) since 1k fps gets my gpu hot and loud. The only thing that made it drop fps was recording with obs, that dropped to around 800fps range. However using the GPU to encode the video on obs kinda messes up the framepacing for me so even though I was getting around 800fps it felt stuttery however using the CPU to do the encoding fixed it for me. This one might be affecting windows too but I can't test it as I don't have it installed.

I agree w/ this guy although for me Vulkan gives me certain lag spikes, so I prefer to use Zink (OpenGL -> Vulkan) on Wayland, so I have screen tearing while keeping Vulkan

Personally I'll never go from windows to Linux (too many games I play are windows only and don't even work with wine) but I can admit that Linux runs miles better than Windows does in general. Windows has so many random settings and bloatware that even after running 2 programs dedicated to cleaning up and speeding up windows (one of them even changing stuff during the actual install), I'm still finding new things to disable that speed up windows even more .

Preach Brother. Apart of the main issue "nvIdiA", man lazer on linux with gamemoderun, is some next level experience. Using tearing in wayland as well, yup there is low latency wayland. But, man I can't play with locked fps for some reason, I really need a 1000fps or else I just can't aim, I don't understand why. But, the biggest thing that no OS, can do as good. AUDIO!, pipewire-jack Is just a god send for me. I can play Osu, at 5ms with discord in pw-pulse. I love this man. literally haven. Now, only if I had the time to play osu, after I get home. ; u ;

6:41 about the power plan part leave it as balanced is usually better than high performance, unless you want ur cpu melting from staying high core speed even when you’re afk ( you can still try the high performance mode to see if the lag spikes are gone =w= )

Exactly, there was recent testing by Ancient Gameplays which concluded that High perf. plan sometimes gives WORSE performance. Just leave the setting alone.

Thats depends on the cpu, modern boost behaviour from any Ryzen or Intel 10th and after cpu will basically just chill out. My cpu goes to 5ghz when its needed and chills at 3.7 when its not. Worth checking it its actually an issue for the user but not a general problem

For Ryzen 5000, and particularly for the laptop Ryzen 5000 parts, you want to keep it on Balanced, because AMD never intended to make it work with High Performance plan (nor any of the other power plans) in an efficient way.

Another tip for people who have an enabled antivirus: You can add an exception to the osu folders because your antivirus keeps scanning for everything what's happening on your computer no matter if a file you trust is not a virus (unless for some reason you don't trust osu!)

If your game lags only when you move your mouse, set your mouse polling rate lower. That has helped me

If your CPU sucks then keeping hardware acceleration on is probably better btw. I'd also recommend forcing discord to below normal priority with process lasso or process hacker since some of the instances go back to high priority when watching videos or opening a stream.

Nice video mr spazza17 the point of the video is keep background processes less, no overlays, no bullshits. I can add Uninstall Nvidia Driver with Display Driver Uninstaller and reinstall latest driver with NVCleanstall. You can opt-out telemetry, update notif, geforce experience etc. If you have low power pc, you can edit "LowResolution = 1" in osu!.{yourname}.cfg. It's disable all @2x elements so your anime waifu goes low res but you can get some more frames.

Fullscreen optimalization turn off. Before ~31ms after 17ms. But when i have hive performence i have higher latency soo i don't really recommend it for some of computers. It just makes your pc works in higher power supply and it more heat in reallity. I'm using recommended power supply, because i have 17ms. With higher performence it's around 24. (No limit frames in osu setting)

i +1 that, he shouldn't experience any throttling or damage in osu , but in other games which he actually mentioned his cpu will throttle down big time and may damage cpu's silicon quality, which may make it so he will be unable to run the cpu on stock settings at all in future and in case if his cpu is already repasted and still runs that hot i would advice setting manual or adaptive volts , auto volts just that bad and going up to ~1.5V occasionally for literally no reason , think r5 3600 on stock should be 1.2~1.25v or so (or even less than 1.2v) which will make a huge difference in comparison to occasional jumps to 1.5v for no reason

I think my osu is weird. Sometimes when I play a map my osu just gives me 8 ms of latency unless I reset my gpu for like 5 seconds and it goes back to 0.9 ms. I'm not too sure what's the issue but I hope these optimisations fix it

You should include uninstalling Razer synapse, Logitech ghub and other spyware it actually used like half of my resources in the background. Also you didn’t talk about windows file indexing. It should be completely turned off because it’s constantly working in background and all it does is improve searching which doesn’t work 99% of the time

win11 is generally better for gaming although it probably won't make a huge difference for osu unless you play windowed for some reason and you don't want to use letterboxing, win11 handles windowed much better in terms of latency

Strange suggestion: check if youre using ethernet + wifi at the same time. That was my weird fix many many years ago for osu and a few other actions. But my pc sucked back then.
