Another tip for making new friends: try to think of a common reason why you are in the same room with someone and think of a question to ask them. Then, people really like to talk about themselves so let them talk a lot and ask questions. They will feel comfortable around you. You will get to know them and if they ask you questions they will get to know you too.

GREAT advice! Especially the last one!! I just had that experience too but vice verse. I felt the bad energy and that person ended up doing something disrespectful today. So it helps both ways! There are more types of learners. Try googling H.Gardner's Multiple Intelligence theory. So there are no 'three methods' as you mentioned but way more.
