My 20 year old daughter was injured and became quadriplegic in January of this year . She is in rehabilitation and coming home in about 5 weeks. Due to the virus I cannot watch her therapy , however she is learning to transfer in and out of bed herself using a sliding board . Your videos are very helpful and informative . Thanks for taking the time to make them .

Like here I am feeling bad for myself for having to do dialysis three times a week...and then there's you dealing with this....you are very inspiring! Thank you for sharing your story because it has definitely humbled me!

When your dedication surpasses any obstacle that has ever opposed you. I've been a C5 quad since high school graduation in 2010. I stride to get to this point. I have a hard time just sitting up. My blood pressure, bladder, and perineum are main problems right now. I look up to you.

i think you're the first person to acknowledge out loud the realness of the fear that while busy and distracted transferring side to side, your body is NOT concentrating on holding you up and (you feel) can not be trusted to do so! thank you

Wheelchairs should be voice activated. You are on the seat. Tell the chair to drop anchor and lock. Tell chair to lower the sidearm, raise the seat you are already on. Extend the board with you on it. I’m on the bed. Retract.

Good transfer. How do you deal with bladder needs?
@coreyaustin146 жыл бұрын
Self-cath around 4 times a day; Oxybuytnin 10mg daily for bladder spasms.
@SurviventheOnslaught6 жыл бұрын
how did you know you needed oxybutin hat were the symptoms
@coreyaustin146 жыл бұрын
I had an indwelling catheter for the first 2 years and I was constantly having issues (leakage/spasms/AD).
@SurviventheOnslaught6 жыл бұрын
I straight cathed for 20 yrs until last week, the tube wouldnt go in, I had ad bad, blood pressure 290 and ambulance came, they put a foley in for 2 weeks and I want to go back cathing but might need a pill for leaking a bit between caths
@jamesortiz53886 жыл бұрын
They make time release oxibutinin. My insurance only pays for regular type. I self cath 5x day. Urologist suggested oxibutinin. At first it caused severe dry mouth and I tolerated leaking. Then a year later I could take oxibutinin better. All my support group takes oxibutinin

Wow, you have a lot of strength, you put me to shame. I have generalized weakness, primarily on my left side from Multiple Sclerosis. I’m in a wc because some days my left leg won’t move at all. It’s been this way for nearly three months. I call it my “dead leg.” On those days I can’t hardly move it with both hands. It’s like it weighs a couple hundred pounds and glued to my footrest. I wish I could figure out a way to get into bed as quickly as you. Sometimes it takes an hour till I can get it to cooperate. Not really complaining, just in need of some good instruction.
