Thanks Brother, your tone is insane. I was hoping you would give some insight to it one of these days. I know a lot of it is in your fingers but this will help a lot of players🙏👍👍👍

Well done. You took Ed's components as a base and tastefully modified them to make it into your own modernized profile. Thanks for sharing! It's funny how I learned about you through a Van Halen fan site but enjoy listening to your interpretations of the incredible VH classics

Just subscribed bro. Trying to get my chops for some tasty licks and riffs. Been wanting to play some more EVH ever since the 🐐 died. Definitely want a wolfgang special one day
@joedesimone14444 жыл бұрын
Sweet overview. Thx. One thing that gets missed on a lot of "tone" videos is the guitar volume and tone knob settings. I would be curious to know how wide open your volume pot settings are for these tones since the EVH pickups are quite hot. I too have a Wolfie-Spec and struggle to always find that sweet spot while playing and knob rolling on the fly.
@LiquidCharlie4 жыл бұрын
Ah yes! Good point! They're both all the way up for everything you hear in this video. I roll the volume off for a cleaner tone, and the Wolfgang pickups clean up quite nicely.

Simple? I thought you were being sarcastic! 😝 I went in tthinking I’m probably not going to like this, but I was curious. Then by the end, I’m thinking, this guy gets a gnarly sound! Awesome! I’ve been playing since the mid-80s, Heavy Metal bands, grew up here near Van Halen, and Eddie was a big influence on me-my early look, and playing style. But I just always kept things simple, plug straight into an amp, using my trusty BOSS DS-1. I was fortunate enough early on to also get that Seymour Duncan Custom around 1985, when I read that is what Eddie used. So I always felt like I was getting pretty great tone! But it would be fun to get a gnarlier sound like he’s getting here. I Love the EVH amps, and pedals. I played them at the Guitar Center here on Sunset back when Eddie had that room set up-around 12 years ago. I will have to get with the times one of these days, ha ha. Maybe pick up one of those EVH half stacks. Great stuff! Thanks! 🎸👍🏻🇺🇸

Hi Charlie.. Great sound!!! Do create your own backing tracks with the Boss Dr 880 or do you use backing tracks from youtube when you play Van Halen songs? Please let me now and cheers CHRISTIAN!

Hey thanks. I do create my own backing tracks for everything. I don't use the DR880 for that though. I program the drums in Logic Pro :)

So expensive for me. It's very expensive in my country or buy international, because the Dollar is like 4,67 times the Brazilian Real. I use a Mooer Ge 100, I've tried to use the Ac 30 simulation with tube screamer simulation or Boss Overdrive simulation. Is that correct effect to achieve this tone?

@evanmiller25793 жыл бұрын
Thanks for posting. Question I have is do you have a "gigging" version of this tone that you put together with some amps/pedals, etc? Thinking in terms of amp distortion vs pedal distortion, delay, reverb. My experience has been with the plugins now available through Logic and Universal Audio, dialing in the VH tone from the different eras is no longer much of a challenge. That being said, a live gigging sound at various volumes is more of a challenge. Appreciate all you do and love the channel.

killer tone Charlie. Just curious are you going through the effects loop on the amp or straight from guitar through drum machine and then pedals? Thanks for sharing!

I just realized you said your not using an amp. So when you use your amp, do you use the effects loop ? thanks!

@LiquidCharlie4 жыл бұрын
Oh! I’ve never ever tried to play that to be honest! Maybe a while
@heyjarrod4 жыл бұрын
Hey Pascal, it’s pretty much just a broken barre chord and volume swells-and some delay. You can do it! You’ll get the timing of it with a little practice. 👍🏻🎸
@FoodFolksandGuns4 жыл бұрын
Set the delay for one repeat at full volume. Delay time is just under 400 ms The rest is timing and practice to get a clean sound. And use chorusing as well

If I am starting as a beginner but was serious about devoting the time and effort to get good, would you recommend getting the BOSS DR-880 now only because it's discontinued and will likely be harder to get as time moves on? Plus if you can find it the price will be a lot higher. Suggestions? Anyone please. Thank you!!
