Hey Claire, I am a high school freshman planning on applying when I turn 16 in January. I live on long island so the nearest center is over 70 miles away. Do you know how a high school student could find budget housing for the summer? All of the intern housing plans I’ve come across are for college students only.

Hi, Lynn! Thanks for asking. I'll make a video on this to further explain. When I'm done, I'll reply to this comment with the link. Very good question!

I'm really interested in NASA and I came across this video so this really helped me out. I'm only in the 8th grade but I'm already getting straight A's in my classes and want to be a intern at nasa I'm really serious about nasa and I was always interested in nasa sense I was a little kid.

I just subscribed. Awesome video! I'm about to submit my application, any recommendations for what space center I should enter as my preferred? I'll definitely be praying as well. Thank you!

Hey Claire! I barely found out about the NASA internship today. I've been doing a little bit research about this opportunityour video was really helpful. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to apply. What are they looking for?
@thatchers_laboratory4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Steph! The application website may or may not be intern.nasa.gov since the last I checked. You may need to go onto usajobs to find it. I honestly am not the best source for knowing what they are looking for, but I would recommend having a research background and good grades in your core classes. Of course, I got into this internship with a 2.99, but I hope this helps. The application I used the second time around had clear specifications on what they wanted to know in each box. Lastly, I can never over-recommend coding skills. Those are necessary in literally any field.

@@thatchers_laboratory How long did you have to wait to hear back from them after applying?

Do colleges and jobs only care about the gpa you graduated high school with or do they care about your gpa in say 7th grade aswell
@thatchers_laboratory3 жыл бұрын
From what I've had to submit, just high school. They may look back, but I'm not sure if they go back that far in your records. It's always a good idea to email the admissions office to see what they think.

If you're a U.S. citizen then you can apply, but international students with no citizenship can't apply

How long after you applied did it take them to offer you an internship
@thatchers_laboratory4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Brittany, so I applied about 10 weeks before the deadline, and they replied about one month after the deadline. So to answer your question directly, it took them about 3 months to reply. However, I think they review in batches and let everyone know that they either did or didn't get in at the same time. Good question!

Hey there, that sounds about right. But you could get them to reply way faster if you follow the strategies in this step-by-step guide www.yoguely.com/contact-nasa/ Hope this helps. Success!

Hi Claire! I'm 12 years old and its been my dream to work at NASA as a planetarygeologist. I want to know how hard it was to get into the NASA internship program, and the qualifications you had that you think made NASA hire you into the program?
@thatchers_laboratory4 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know what got me in other than applying and having barely the minimum gpa to get in. It was literally an act of God. Also, they emailed me a few months after I submitted my application. It was my first internship and I was denied to like 4 or 5 other places. It's hard, so I say start doing all you can now. However, don't sweat it if you have to cut back on some things to really excel in school.

@@thatchers_laboratory Yeah I have sacrificed lots of things to get the fullest education possible. I have switched to better schools and given up friendships, lots more too. It has been my dream to work for NASA since I was 8 years old and that is the only thing I ever think about. My gpa is around a 3.42 do you think that if I got honor roll( I do) and was in the gifted program ( I am) and got into every AP class that I would be able to get the internship
@DanA-ux6ow4 жыл бұрын
Rowan Reynolds Gifted does not matter. There’s no such thing called a “gifted student” to NASA. It’s all about hard work
@Rowan-d3g4 жыл бұрын
@@DanA-ux6ow yeah and its my hard work that has the teachers give me the "gifted student" title. I do work hard and its my life dream to make it into NASA. I work as hard as i cab
@DanA-ux6ow4 жыл бұрын
Rowan Reynolds but gifted does not mean anythin. A student that isn’t doing AP or Gifted can be just as smart as a person that is doing gifted or AP. It’s just about opportunities, luck, and connections.

do u need to be american to get an nasa intern?
@wiwiowner21864 жыл бұрын
Yeah....you need to be an American or you should have student visa
@thatchers_laboratory4 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, yes. Or at least a US national, but you have to go to the website to see for sure. I do remember seeing something about an international student program, but I'm not sure.
