Smart, handsome, and charismatic. Kudos to your parents for raising an awesome kid. Keep up the good work. I hope you go into public service work and change the current environmental laws.

Congratulations on your hard work and achievements Grant, and best wishes with whatever you choose to do in life! As an Ivy League alum, I 100% agree that showing a true passion for something and/or consistent excellence in a field is what will do it for the Ivies. Depends on the university whether leadership in that passion is also needed. Applicants need to remember that they could fill every single one of their spots with valedictorians if they chose to (which they don't), so Grant is correct that academic excellence opens the conversation but does not guarantee entry. Their focus is on providing an interesting and stimulating class of students to teach each other about life and inspire each other with their passions. The university professors inspire academic learning, but your fellow students inspire lifelong interests in the world around you. THAT is what admissions officers are thinking about, they really are not interested in perfect scores because thousands of applicants could have perfect scores; instead, what are you excited about in life that you can share with your classmates? What can you offer to your classmates? I also wanted to add that if you don't have perfect academic scores but all the other criteria apply (i.e. showing a true passion for something and/or consistent excellence in a field plus leadership) don't automatically exclude yourself from applying to challenging colleges if that genuinely is your dream to attend a particular place because of their specific programs that speak to your passions (don't ever bother applying anywhere just because of the name). Sure, they might not accept you, but it's worth applying if all of your passions illustrate you match and your academic record shows that you would cope with rigorous learning, even if your scores aren't perfect. College admissions officers do take into account the community you come from and the challenges you faced growing up if they are expressed as part of your growth in learning and passions. Having perfect scores is not the issue. They are looking for future leaders. Not all universities are, but the Ivies are. What do you care about? Are you trying to make the world a better place?

What's absolutely insane is I am a white, brown-haired kid with one brother. My focus in extracurriculars is environmental advocacy and I'm also in the process of writing a book. I am currently the sophomore Vice President. You started a science olympiad team and I started a debate team at my school. You did varsity baseball and I'm doing varsity soccer. It's so crazy to see how similar two applicants could be. I'm laughing because you got into 6 ivies, all except Dartmouth - which is my favorite out of all of them. Congrats on all your acceptances and I can only hope my admissions process turns out to be this successful 😅

Congratulations on your academics and extracurriculars! I have to tell you that my dad is also in the military. So, I have traveled all over the states as I grew up as a military child. I was born in the city of Buffalo in New York. I lived there in my early childhood until age 5. It was back in kindergarten when I left my hometown. My dad who is in the military is technically my stepdad, but I always call him dad because I grew up with him! He is the man who raised me as a child. I have a younger brother in my mom’s side. I have four younger sisters and one younger brother in my bio dad’s side. I was born from Puerto Rican family, and I was raised from my Colombian family. I am full Puerto Rican and half Colombian. I grew up with my Spanish speaking family who are from Colombia and Puerto Rico. I just graduated from Valencia College with my A.A degree over here in Florida as well! I have switched my major 2 times. I have switched from Computer Specialists as my A.A.S degree to Business Management as my diploma. Finally, I have switched from Business Management as my diploma to General Studies (Liberal Arts) as my A.A degree. It took me 6 years to complete with my A.A degree. Again, congratulations on your success from your school! Very proud of you! Also, I have worked on my second book which is called My Life Throughout with Autism and Being a Military Child. I just finished with my first book. My first book will be published after it gets reviewed in this coming July. My first book might have the same content as the second book, but it might have different chapters. Hope everything is well with you! My name is Andres by the way! It is pleasure to meet you! Great content by the way! I will get it announce on KZbin for my first book to publish this coming July. Also, I have a KZbin channel. I have been publishing videos for about a year. After I complete with my A.A degree, I will train for acting. Then, I will work on my B.A degree in Broadcast Journalism while doing internship outside of college. My dream career is to be a actor and journalist in the future. Again, great job with your video! I really enjoyed watching your video. It is very great content. Congratulations on your acceptance in colleges and your book as well! Good luck with college and everything you do! Also, congratulations on graduating from high school. My second younger sister is also graduating from high school as well! God bless you and your family! 🙏

Congrats bro! You are an amazing person, and not just because you got into these colleges! From this video, you seem to be the right person, so I want to ask: What if I'm not from the US but I want to get into an Ivy League college? The grading system in my country is different than the US and I have a hard time calculating my GPA, taking classes like AP or other important stuff. Does this hurt my chances of getting in? Thank you in advance for your answer! :)

How did you raise your SAT math from 750 to a 790? My son just got back his SAT today and got a 760 on his math and plans to retake the test
@Lactosian
@Lactosian Жыл бұрын
The 760-800 range has nothing to do with learning new skills, but being diligent on every question to make sure there are no misreads or mistakes. That’s how I went from a 770 to an 800. However, I do not recommend your son takes the test again, as he has already received a wonderful score, and he should enjoy his summer rather than spend it inside studying for a few points that won’t make a difference to any college. Good luck to your son!

Do u think having the NROTC scholarship helped you get into all of these insane schools? I have the Army ROTC scholarship and am applying to Notre Dame, Princeton, Vanderbilt, and UT Austin. These schools are obviously very competitve and I am hoping my ROTC scholarship will help me get in. Super weird that that Naval Academy didn't accept you, I am fortunate enough to have an LOA there and it is def my top choice

the high school you go to has no effect on your chances of admission. they judge you based on how you take advantage of the opportunities given to you
@gagejernigan5277
@gagejernigan5277 Жыл бұрын
No because you have no control over your school or your states regulations so they can’t really look at that but you have a worse chance at getting into an Ivy League if you’re white or Asian unfortunately

@maryeverett2266
@maryeverett2266 Жыл бұрын
@@christianfinity It does have an effect. Going to a top ranked high school means it’ll be much more difficult to be admitted with the same profile than if you were to go to a mediocre, or especially a rural, poorly funded school. You have to be the best at a school where everyone is already the best, and that’s very, very difficult to do. It’s common for students at schools like Andover and Exeter to have national awards, so your national award will only prevent you from quickly being rejected if you’re from a feeder school. But if you’re from a rural, poorly funded school, a national award would help your application greatly. The same concept applies to the other parts of your application, I just pointed out national awards because that’s the most highly weighed factor if you have it. Grant is a good example of this. At his previous top ranked high school, he was ranked 100/300. This would give him literally 0% chance at being admitted to several ivy schools, considering that those schools reported on their common data set that no students ranked lower than the top quartile of their high school were accepted. For the ivies that did have acceptances from the entire top half of the admitted students’ high schools, it was only 2 students per year who ranked lower than the top quartile. If say, Yale were taking 10 students from his previous high school (which is a lot of students even for a magnet school), they would certainly not take him when there are 99 students better to take.

Were the admissions officers at the following schools high when they read your application? Waitlisted: Vandy, UNC Chapel Hill, Dartmouth Rejected: Stanford 1) I'm surprised no one offered you a professorship, and 2) where did you find all the time to do all these things AND take AP classes? Good grief!
