THIS GIVES ME SO MUCH HOPE!!!! I'm applying to law school this fall, and I'm a non-trad applicant (I'm 27). My GPA is not great bc my first semester in college back in 2015 was horrible bc my dad died, and I was depressed and failed my classes. however, when I came back in 2021, I have done SUPER well, so hopefully they will look at that progress instead of just the number. My LSAT isn't too good either, it's a 156. Idk if I will retake it though bc LR is my worst subject and they have 2 sections of it now. I got help with my statements so I hope that helps too!! I'm gonna apply around and see what happens:) I also work full time in healthcare while doing school and it is no joke!! You're awesome!

Our son earned a degree in Film and Photography and graduated with honors. He worked for 5 years, then decided he wanted to be an attorney. He took the LSAT 2 times, scored in the high 160s. Dealt with a medical issue. A few months later, he took the LSAT a third time. Scored a 175. He’s headed to Michigan Law next week. He studied his butt off. He was disciplined. He did the work

Just a reminder not everyone has your child's support system or foundation. Most parents wouldn't even support a child through a film degree. That's why favor and perspective are so important.

@@jayjayeffron9249 you are right. My. Father died when I was 11 years old. I thank God he, and my mother, had instilled core values in by age 9. I knew right from wrong. From that point forward, I tried not to burden my widowed mother by being a pain in the rear. So did my 10 year old sister and 12 year old brother. Our son, was a miracle child. Born 8 years after his sister. When my wife was 3 months pregnant with him, she had a major operation to remove a tumor from an ovary. The probability she would lose the baby was 70 percent. I gave my wife a shot everyday for 7 months, to prevent her going into contractions. Yeah, we supported our son to pursue a film and photography degree. It’s not that big a deal. We are just grateful he is alive. 😀

i think it’s accurate to say that the LSAT score is the single most important piece of your app, but that doesn’t mean it’s the largest part of your app. They really care about your written materials, they want to make sure you have the guts and the motivation, and that you also have a certain level of eloquence with the written word (and also that you aren’t a psycho lmao), so I want to echo this video to anyone watching and say you can shoot your shot for any school, and you’ll stand a good shot if at least one of your two numbers meets their medians. Remember that they also look at your GPA. During any given application cycle I would wager that most people apply to top schools as splitters using their GPA as their main number and their LSAT flagging behind. It’s just numbers, if a 173+ is the 99th percentile only a slim few people will get those scores, too few to account for the many thousands of applicants that top schools get, so most of those people are using their GPA to get their foot in the door. If you have the money and can craft a good essay, apply anywhere you want. I’m in the middle of applying right now, so ask me how well this turns out in a few months lmao, maybe by then i’ll have been rejected and crushed by every school.

LSAT SCALE: 120-180. They recently changed and got rid of the logic games so now there is only 2 subjects. Also you got the 25 and 75% percentile is backwards the 75 is the higher median is 50% 25th is lower third of what they admitted. However thank you for the video. Also 25th on gpa and lsat are just that they also admit lower than that they just don’t advertise that so you’re right always apply worst they can say is no

It does sound like a brilliant plan. After you pass the Bar Exam and realize how grossly oversaturated the job market for JD's is, you can earn as much as $22.00 per hour doing "temporary document review projects." What will you do with all that cash?
@clarkeblodgett2927

After watching “Suits” on Netflix I had been thinking about looking into law school. Is the market actually saturated? I thought lawyers would make a fortune.
@criminallaw9573

@@clarkeblodgett2927 Is the job market for lawyers saturated? Hmm, well, there are 11 law schools in Florida, 10 in Pennsylvania, 8 in Virgina. . .each of those states could be fine with just one law school. Would you want compete not only with your own classmates for job, but with the graduates of 10 other law schools in your state?
@clarkeblodgett2927
@clarkeblodgett2927 3 ай бұрын
@@criminallaw9573 I wasn’t sure. You make a good point though. My only question with that would be when comparing it to medical schools. There are roughly the same number of law schools as there are medical schools but I wouldn’t say the market for doctors is oversaturated. It’s definitely I’ll have to look more into before deciding to spend loads of money on a JD.
@criminallaw9573
@criminallaw9573 3 ай бұрын
@@clarkeblodgett2927 Actually, comparing Medical School to Law School might have made sense 75 years ago. Today there is no comparison whatsoever. It is EXTREMELY difficult to get into a US medical school. On the other hand, anyone with a bachelor's degree and the ability to sign some student loan documents can go to a low-ranked law school, and deliver pizza afterwards with his worthless JD.

I made it as a lawyer, after working a lot of low-paid jobs for garbage bosses. I went out on my own as a solo practitioner about 14Y ago, with a very effective marketing plan. Most lawyers who go solo swiftly shut down their practices, after losing a lot of money; there are far too many lawyers chasing too few paying clients.

I question the notion that LSAT scores are a reliable indicator of law school success. Anecdotally, I've noticed that some individuals with impressive LSAT scores struggle to maintain a strong GPA in their first-year classes, while others with lower LSAT scores but high GPAs consistently perform well.

It depends on the school. Some schools only look at your highest score, some look at all of them (that's why score cancellation exists -- because some students don't want schools to see their lower scores), and some might even average the scores. I think taking the LSAT multiple times is fine, but that also depends on the score differences between each test -- if the scores are super close especially if you took it all within 1-2 years, I heard that law schools might ask why did you take it so many times. You might want to research this information about the specific schools you want to apply to since as you can probably already tell from my long comment, this process differs for every school. I'm sure the schools hold some sort of info sessions throughout the year where you can probably ask such questions. I wish you the best!
