Hey Hayden, I have a question. Does tutoring my younger siblings count as an extracurricular activity? I spend around 3 hours a week teaching my two younger siblings our native language.

Yea I would say so! Honestly I think most things can be spun into a personal profile talking point as long as you can highlight how it helped you develop yourself

I felt so called out when you mentioned being in gr 12 with no extracurriculars. Ive signed up for some volunteer work and I have a part time job. If i put a coding course im doing on there since im going into comp sci will that be enough?

I would definitely count a volunteer work and the part-time job as extra curriculars, but I’m not sure about the coding course since I don’t see how that fits into the rubric I feel like it would be a good thing to touch on for the last question tho, showing that you’re doing additional learning outside of school (the additional information question where they ask you about your academic history)

Hi Hayden, I'm currently in the process of preparing to apply to ubc; did you do any APs prior to your acceptance? Also, do you think its worthwhile to talk about me taking AP english even though I only got a 3? Thanks!
@HaydenChanUBC2 ай бұрын
I didn’t do any APs cause my school didn’t offer it :| I wouldn’t focus on courses, it can be a supporting evidence, but not the main point. It doesn’t rly touch on any rubric points for the personal profile

Hi, when applying to ubc can you apply more than one program ? Ans also, for persnol profile references, do you just have to give their contact details or do they have to write a reference letter about us. And also which program references did you give? Sorry for asking alot of questions. 😊.
@HaydenChanUBC2 ай бұрын
Yes you're allowed to pick your first and second choice program. If you're waitlisted for your first choice, then your second choice will start to consider you. If you're accepted into your first choice, the second choice will NOT consider you. For references, you simply need to provide their information, and UBC will reach out, no need for them to write a reference letter! For me, I put my Air Cadets Commanding Officer and Badminton Team Coach.

Hi , do you know how to apply for the air cadet program right now.
@HaydenChanUBC2 ай бұрын
Depends on where you’re from, but I would start by googling air cadet squadron near your area! They usually take new cadets all year round, so you should be able to join!

Should I apply for early admission? If I get rejected, will I get considered for regular admission?
@HaydenChanUBC2 ай бұрын
I haven’t heard of rejection for early admissions, they usually just waitlist you and consider you alongside other regular admission

@@HaydenChanUBC would you recommend early admission
@HaydenChanUBC2 ай бұрын
As long as you’re not rushing through your application, I would recommend applying early! Personally, I did early applications because I wanted to get in early and not have to worry for months lol

@@HaydenChanUBCHey hayden, what if you apply with early applications but later on the year you see yourself with better grade and more experiences and opportunities which you can add onto your personal porfile, could you change your early admission?
