My suggestion would be to stay in high school for all four years and take extra classes if those classes are AP/ Honors or Gate Classes. Plus you’ll be able to get some more extra curriculars under your belt. However, if you think you got the most out of your high school ( classes and activities wise) then graduate early!

Hi Sharon! In short, yes, you can apply to change majors once you are admitted. I think you have to remain in that major for at least a quarter and then get department approval from the school of whatever the design major falls under. It's a little but of a process to do online, and it took me an entire quarter to switch, but it was so worth it.

mariah villavicencio as long as you show that you are improving, that's the most important thing! Take the best classes that you think you can handle and just work hard this semester! That will say a lot about the type of student you are.

Hey Samatha! I'm an incoming senior and stressed at the moment since college apps open soon. UC Davis is one of my top choices :) I have a 4.3 GPA, good EC's, a lot of volunteer service hours, but my ACT score is a bit on the low side for Davis (25 out of 36). Do you think UCD will be more forgiving with my score since I have above a 4.0 and a lot of stuff I could put on my app for activities? Thanks :)

Chelsea Rodriguez hey Chelsea! Thanks for asking, I can't speak for the admissions board but based on experience I'd say that you're on the right track! Everything is considered on your app and GPA is probably the most important. If you're apprehensive about your ACT score, I'd suggest retaking it, if you can. when you are in high school you should become an FFA member! its an organization across the whole United states and you can learn so much about different aspects of agriculture. Your nearest high school may have it and may have vet science classes. Look into it:)

Queerkageyama that's a great question! You know idk, but every college recruiter I've heard prefers a well rounded student over someone that just does well on their grades. Grades are huge , but they aren't everything! Hope this helps!

I live in Canada bu I really want to go to UC Davis to become a veterinarian and eventually a specialist. I get an average of 97% in school and next year I’m going to try to get into my school’s essential skills program, but only six people get in per year. I don’t participate in extra curricular activities but I am going to get into some next year. I’m also going to try to volunteer at the SPCA. Yes, absolutely! It looks like everything you are doing is on the right track. If you are earlier in your high school years, that’s even better. As long as you show consistency in a club, try to be a club leader or create a program, club or other organization then your off to the right start!

I live about 45 minutes away from UC Davis personally for me and my family I don’t think I’ll be able to do dorms do you think this would be do able as a commute or should I look for something closer ?

Delainey Bright honestly, there’s a lot of logistics behind that like the cost of a car and gas. And how comfortable you are driving to and from. And commuting vs dorming is a very different experience, and if you absolutely can not stay in dorms( which I’d suggest), I think the experience at UC Davis is worth it and the academic quality and name is worth it to commute 45 minutes, but if there’s a school closer to you that has the same academic caliber for your major, I’d suggest going there. But I’m just an opinion, and I definitely don’t know as much about your situation. I think ultimately, you can make the best decision. Hope that helps!

Sophia great question! I don't believe you can transfer via TAG as an incoming sophomore or with that major but if you transfer as a Junior from a CC with that major then you definitely can! As for a rep., my best guess is to check UC Davis website and look up your major and maybe just look from there. Hopefully that helps!

Sophia I plan on transferring after my time at my community college. The veterinary program is apart of there graduate school so you already need a bachelors before you can go through the program. I am going to apply for transfer under the animal biology degree then move on to there vet program. Hope this helped

I know this is really late, but not really. UCs don't look at your 9th grade year when calculating GPA, so your freshman grades won't kill you. They just see "I got off to a bad start." And your 8th grade class won't matter at all. Try to aim for perfect grades in case you fall a bit short and work hard to get a good SAT to make up for it

Annie Chen honestly my SAT score was very average. I had a 1470 SAT score and scored a 1230 on the PSAT in hs (btw that will get higher the more you practice). There are definitely intelligent people here but more importantly hard working! There are ppl like me too that are average but worked hard and got involved! If I can, you can too :)
