Hey Brother, excellent vid. Being that I'm a bit older than you I grew up in the wild 80's. I started drinking and doing "party" drugs at age 11. Yes, 11. By the time I had hit my mid 20's I decided enough was enough and stopped all drugs and kept drinking to a minimum. I never touched drugs again. Now if I take Jenny to dinner I may have a cocktail (1) and that's it. I have not been drunk in many, many years.....I can't even imagine a hangover this point in my life. I paused the vid where you have the before and after split screen and showed Jenny. She could not believe it was the same guy!! Keep the faith Brother, much luv 🤘🔥🔥🤘

I feel really proud of you by hearing that. In the past, I was struggling with smoking. It was difficult but not just only thinking how it affects you talking like in a physic way, also how it's making you feel on emotional terms. Smoking for me was like an scape for anxiety but, then when I tried to leave it, my emotional balance was a little destroyed and my anxiety became bad. Now, I'm totally recovered, I'm still young enough so I'm proud that I could step out from there as soon I as could before it came a really bad addiction. Thank you for sharing this, it might help some others to realize an make them do little changes on their lifestyle. It's kinda difficult to talk about this personal experiences sometimes, we're proud of you! Much love and have an excellent friday!

I know that this video is kinda old, but I want to share some of my experience as well. My father was an alcohol addict. He died because he couldn't let go of his addiction and his body shut down when I was 15 years old. After that my mother began to drink heavily as well and fell into a bad depression. Luckily she is sober and happy now. :) After my dad died I had a lot of comfort songs... one of it was "A Trophy Father's Trophy Son". It helped me to work through my feelings. :) I am really proud of you that you overcome your addiction.

Thanks for sharing this story, Nick. I also had experiences of depression, and I have to fight a lot for being "well" and happy, to not be depressed or very negative and critical in general. It's still a process, there are better and worse days, but music, art, good conversations and being mindful and honest with myself helps. Cheers for speaking about mental health in this industry, I would certainly like to hear a lot more about the stress of touring, lack of sleep, seeing your family not enough times during these big tours, and also coping with the adrenaline of huge crowds, as opposed to being alone after it in your room, which also can be hard mentally, and can cause people to reach out to drugs or alcohol. Cheers, also, come back to Hungary in 2021! :)

You done good for yourself, your family, and now anyone who watches this. ¡Qué bueno! One thing I didn't see was this: What would it mean for you if you drank an alcoholic beverage again? Is it a badge of honor? Is there anxiety or fear attached to that? You did a really good job of talking about the balanced perspective of taking it one day at a time and the process and bigger picture, but what about the anxiety of keeping the pattern going?
@NickMartinIsMyName3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, BROTHER! 🖤 Great questions. Throughout my 3 years of being alcohol free, I’ve worked towards removing this personal “stigma” I had built with drinking. It doesn’t define me - either way. The personal work I had to do involving my mental & emotional health was not because of alcohol - but alcohol didn’t allow me to face those personal issues with clarity. I don’t view my 3 years as a badge of honor. I view it as a necessary cleanse for myself that initially wasn’t my intention. A happy, positive “accident” 😂 I don’t have an anxiety or fear around drinking again. It’s honestly something I don’t really ever think about. It wasn’t a necessity before, and it wouldn’t be now - even more so in regards to the personal work I’ve done and continue to do. The healthy pattern & path for me isn’t about not drinking, it’s about continuing to be authentic with myself, my emotions, and also to the people around me.
