The Milky Way was washed out a lot by the bright moon. I won't do the park in summer due to crowds and I really like my home area of Big Bend more for Milky Way, but I am sure I will do at some point! If I do, I will do a video!

The 8-25 being only an F4 means that without that full moon, it would be to slow. You could try, just crank the ISO up a bit, but with Live Composite, you are limited on your ISO!

Just a thought, would it be possible to avoid problems with car headlights by temporarily covering the lens (like the old world portrait photographers) until the headlights moved out of shot? It would probably need good anticipation.

You would get gaps in the star trails by doing that! Good thought though!

I looked up Live Composite in the manual and it tells you very little beyond how to turn it on. Very disappointing. I found a very good descriptive video which describes how It works and how to get the settings right. Basically get a good exposure, then let it work. The camera builds a number of layers and combines them using a lighten blend mode, as in LR for example. It's a very impressive achievement to do all that in camera and end up with a raw file.

Well, in fairness, Live Composite is much harder to describe through words in a technical manual than say a basic exposure! Yes, at the most basic, the camera captures a basic exposure (based on the settings you provide) and then only records brighter pixels values. It is an amazing feature that NO other camera system comes close to providing! Thanks for watching and commenting!
