Aquarium pump and air stone would do a lot of that mixing for you. Just drop it in and let it bubble while your measuring out nutrients then maybe for a few minutes after.

Why do you adjust after silica? Is it bad to just adjust the finished solution?

Do you ph test plain water before adding silica? I have heard it needs ph above 7 to actually dissolve in water

I know everyone has their own method and whatever works for them is great. I personally don't feel it necessary to use so many different products to have excellent results. A good base fertilizer (such as GH Flora Nova Grow 7-4-10, or TPS Indoor Plant Food 3-1-2) that has all the essential nutrients, including Ca and Mg, has served me well. My main concern is the TDS, rather than the pH, because the pH is going to drop in the pot but excess nutrient is not good for root health so I don't feed above 400 ppm (and typically less than that).
@yberionplАй бұрын
How often do you feed your anthuriums with 400 ppm solution? I've been experimenting with different values of EC/TDS like basically no fertilizing at all for few weeks to heavy feeding with EC values up to 2500uS/cm (~1600 ppm). Trying to find my sweet spot but I think heavy feeding is giving me more troubles than advantages.
@michaelmccarthy4077Ай бұрын
@@yberionpl I feed them every time I water, although every now and then I "flush" with water that has 50-100 ppm Epsom salts. Because the media is never drying out and I am pouring through a large volume of water, there isn't any real risk of nutrient buildup. Maybe more feed would make them grow faster, but they grow sufficiently well and produce inflos with every new leaf.

Hey I am wondering why you you ph 2xs instead of just at the end? Thanks
@nxcplants3 ай бұрын
I adjust after adding silica as it raises the ph and the fertilizers mix best at a neutral starting ph

Awesome video Nick, thank you!! Is this a good recap of your mature plants nutrients steps: 1. Never add nutrients directly to the large jug. Instead use small bowl then transfer to jug. 2. Add recommended monosilica to bowl then larger jug 3. Wait ~30 mins to stabilize 4. PH jug (or bowl?) solution to 7 5. Add to smaller bowls then jug separately - Cal-Mag + Core 3 part solution (Micro/Grow/Bloom) + Diamond Nectar + SuperThrive + Orca + Vitamax Pro 6. Mix jug 7. PH jug solution to ~4.8 8. Flush as needed Sounds right?

Whenever I add silica , my hydroponic houseplants gets root rot. I see the benefits of using silica for my plants so I know it works. Do you know what I'm doing wrong that is making the roots rot once I add silica?
@nxcplants3 ай бұрын
Make sure it’s monosilicic acid, and check and adjust the ph down after bc it increases ph
@LoHMysticAgent3 ай бұрын
@@nxcplantsthank you 🙏. I think that might be where I'm messing up, I haven't pH down when I use it mixed with nutrients. I'm currently using TPS silica. Had it for two years but I don't use it that much since I run into root rot. Is that good to use or should I buy a different brand like the one your using? It only says soluble silicon (si) 3.0% , soluble potash (k2o) 1.3% on the back.

Hello everyone. Thanks for the vid nxcplants. Very informative. My question is. I have an anthurium luxurian and she has dropped all her leaf's. Between moving and having all my plants in a storage space for a few weeks. I assume the stress got them to drop all the leaf's. I transplanted her but she is now yellowing her few remaining leafs. Any advice?

I would check the roots, if they’re healthy give the plant good light, humidity etc while it recovers.

monosilicic acid doesn`t need 30min absorbtion time, thats needed for potassium silicate so don`t waste time waiting, mono binds to water molecules instantly.
