Hi Larry, I'm working with more aggressive dogs. It's just happening that way. The videos you post about this subject are MOST helpful. I have learned more from you then classes or other trainers. Keep up the great work. Dogs need people who care. Thanks Ron Liggett

Just took in a 10 m/o 130lb female dane with serious human male aggression. Never socialized it seems. She's perfect with my wife and our 4 y/o male Dane. I went to your channel and searched for aggression(like I would for any dog issue I'm trying to figure out). I was thinking about ordering a muzzle and handling her. I watched Kesey pit video and thought I could do that. Then I watched this one and it sounds much better for everyone! I sent this to my wife and asked her to listen just so she better understands how the dog thinks and why they react. I'm excited to try this approach over the next few days. I have the educator but that was never in my thoughts for this. My goal is just to get this girl ready to interview her potential forever moms and dads. Thanks for what you do.

Yes Larry, will you please do more videos about hands- off no conflict aggression training? I'm one of your biggest fans & I do my best to use your methods in dog training. Thank you, for everything you put out. I absolutely loved your E-collar book & recommended it to many dog owners.

Hi Larry, We have a rescue dog here that we are working with (aggressive to humans and animals) - he is about 18 months old now. We took him in when he was 11 months and about 85 pounds. Large German Shepherd Dog, apparently bred for border patrol. I cannot tell you how many tooth-marks, bumps, bruises, cracked shoulders, hurt feet, scratches etc. I have had since we got this dog. OMG. He is big, he is strong, and he is all puppy teenager, heading to adult. Smart as heck, drivey beyond .... hmm.. ok maybe not belgian malinois drive, but yeah. Protection is in that dog's blood. (Give the dog a man in a bite suit) type of protection. He trusts noone except his "pack" - which consists of 4 people. And one older dog. I have had a lot of sheps over the years, I'm 51 now - and this dog has no fear. None. We used to call horses "bomb proof" back in the day - which meant non spooky, dead solid, won't move if a gun or a firework goes off. This dog? Nothing rattles him. Bomb Proof. Not used to training that! I'm used to the fear based dogs. Our older dog was so fear based... you couldn't talk to her, look at her, touch her, she would immediately squat and pee. Took me like 2-3 years to get her over that. Moose, however... Has cost us about what - 3k since we got him? He attacked my mom's little dog, we are all glad she is alive, but there went 1,200 bucks. He killed my little white rabbit, that I had 500 bucks and 2 years into. He scared the hell out of the mail lady by grabbing her arm when I signed for a package. We have had package drop off issues ever since, with many notices of "bad dog, don't try" :-P He rolled the neighbors little dog, but thankfully didn't hurt the poor thing. Scared the heck out of it though. I still, cannot get my cats and Moose in the same room yet - but I'm working on it. He'll kill the one cat, the other one he seems to be ok with. I have considered rehoming the cats, but... can't do it. Right now we have a rotation schedule, the Moose gets 12 hours during the day, the cats get 12 hours during the night. We separate them. So... we put the Moose in Pro Training with a company around here called "Sit Means Sit" - which they did at least get us an ecollar, and teach the pup how to understand it. That honestly did help to get him under some kind of control. However. I think they are buzz happy for one. I don't believe dogs need that much correction and little reward other than "relief". Been through that with horses. No reason for it. I think using ecollars your way Larry - will be much more effective, so we are kind of wading through our sit means sit group classes atm. Right now we use the ecollar periodically. If you try to go to a higher level when he is being aggressive, I think it ramps him up. We found out the squirt-gun worked ahha - but my son and Moose played with it too much to have any effect now. LOL He will get right to the end of the squirt-gun to drink out of it. :-D Honestly, the dog is getting much better, but he's getting older - and is with the entire family in the house at all times. We got him in December, it's now August - and he's only been home alone 3 times. What's that tell ya? Love the way you train, I may have to come back and ask questions later - but for now same stuff. "OFF" - is a big one. LOL!

So many people leave toys around and they lose value as you said. No wonder the dog was afraid of people. It is never the dog but people who ruin them. I wish you would put these videos on KZbin as Facebook is a nightmare, if it is FB is where they are posted. Having many methods is a great thing. Dogs teach us trainers so much as well. Great info Larry, thanks : ) What is going on in the Dog Training Industry? I haven't heard a thing here in the U.K ?

Larry I have a question. I just watched all your vids on the E collar training and I’m trying to understand this methodology a bit better. So you mentioned with that first client and attempt at this No handling - No conflict method you had the clients practice being the dog trainer and vice Vs. Then you said you went into the tennis court and did any corrections for them. So my disconnect is - did you run them through all the stages of beginner- intermediate- advanced E collar training before jumping to the part where you did the proximity training with Bear? Just want to piece this amazing style together! Love it so much! It sounds incredible.. Cheers brother.
@corymarinan2996 Жыл бұрын
Sounds to me like: Only the conditioning stage was done before the proximity (BAT & CAT) training with BRUNO. Larry was not in the tennis court, and NO CORRECTIONS were administered.

That was a very interesting story but i havent yet come across anything that mirrors my experience and am honestly in a black hole of ignorance in figuring out how to deal with it. My dog appeared to be awesome all the way around with people. More reserved with men, but i chalked that up to shelters being staffed mainly by women. She was dog reactive but that is an easy issue to deal with and is mostly a thing of the past with a wrinkle or two now and then. Where i discovered a major problem, is that she cannot get ovet the element of surprise. There are 2 people in the world who i cannot let inside my house without having my dog leashed or she loses her ever loving mind. Both people walked into my house one time, appeared in her space, and that surprised the ever living daylights out of her. She bolted right at them, urinated on the spot, high alarm, and only stopped when i hugged the individuals, where she then got curious and almost affectionate. However, everytime she spots either of those people nearby, its the same hysteria all over again. And although i now have got to the point where if one of them (my father in law) is just sitting there, she is ok and will go up for a sniff and completely accept getting pet. But by god if he stands up to go to into another room, she will go at him so fast i dont have a hope in hell of stopping her. And he spends a lot of time in my house and it is getting to be so unbelievably exhausting as he is not dog smart in any way, shape or form. When i hear he is coming for a visit, i have to have all kimds of contingency plans in place, lock a bunch of doors so that i know he can only come in one door, and then barricade the way he will come in because he always lets himself in, no matter that everytime he does so she charges at him like a rocket. Of course, the second she sees the gate, she knows he will be nearby and starts freaking out at every noise. She will just not forget the first time where he accidentally spooked so bad. I have to believe there is a very specific resemblance of someone in her past, but i have run out of ways to establish a safe zone with her and him. I dont trust him to really understand tgat he scares the crap iut of her everytime he just waltzes in, and i dont trust her not to actually bite him because everytime she charges, she gets a little braver and a little closer. She is not a small dog and frankly it is not a pretty sight. She is freaking awesome and sweet and polite with every other person I have ever introduced to her. UGH

I thought you correct dogs after they are trained on the e collar? If a dog is conditioned to the e collar and has a blow up, what do you do? Stim before the blow up? I have heard you say in one of your videos you have walked past dogs while training and tapped level 30( I understand level is not blasting the dog) before the dog in training blew up. Would you recommend the same thing for a dog aggressive human, high stim before blow up?

hi i have question. i had rottweiler that is 1years old n we just adopted him. my husband tryna spank him when thr dog lesson to him. i dont know the right way to punish or correct him when he do something bad or not lesson. anything you can help me? i wanna show my husband that he dont have to spank him teach him like we raise kids.
@zhippidydoodah5 жыл бұрын
Don't hit the dog. Remember also, 5 minutes training sessions, it's hard work for a dog to learn. Either tell your husband to stop hitting the dog, or, find a humane adopter for the dog. The dog is a puppy, energetic and wide open to learn and learning abuse is bad bad bad. Your dog will learn with consistency, stable attitude (hitting a dog is not stable, does he hit you too?) ... kindness and patience.

@@rokig2902 Hi. I am glad that you are trying to find the best way to train your Rottie. (I have one as well, and they can be stubborn.) I love Larry Krohn's training, I recommend watching his videos for basic ways to train. I also love Upstate Canine Academy. He is very similar to Larry Krohn and offers some alternative ways to train. Of the training videos on YT, I recommend both of them. Best wishes to you and your Rottie pup, they are wonderful dogs.

I had a German shepherd that basically hated every animal including humans. I kept putting off training him even though he savaged a stray cat. Eventually, he got out of my backyard and charged my neighbors kid. My neighbor was outside with his kid and my dog ended up meeting the barrel of a shotgun instead. What happened next wasn’t pretty. My dog didn’t make it. It was an awful scene that I wish I could unsee. A lot of owners like to blame themselves when their dog dies even when there wasn’t anything they could have done, but it my case, it was 100% my fault and although I like to pretend otherwise, my neighbor had every right to do what he did. I really let that dog down and he was only 10 months old. I was young and ignorant. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CORRECT YOUR DOGS BEHAVIOR IF THEY ARE LIKE THIS! You might not just be saving a person or animals life, you could also be saving your dog’s life.
@mistym4010 Жыл бұрын
Wow...my heart hurts for what you experienced. It takes so much courage to admit that this was 100℅ your fault, and even more to share your story. I hope you have been able to forgive yourself. ❤

Larry, how would you apply this to a dog that only shows signs of aggression sometimes. My Giant Schnauzer is very protective and has lunged and thrown himself at a few people randomly whereas as other times he could care less if someone is walking by. How can I train him to turn “on” protection mode when I need it but be trusting of people other times.

@AndreiFantastic5 жыл бұрын
If you use a dog for protection dont be surprised when it attacks humans. You really cant do both. Do you want a companion dog that you can take out in public with no fear of them attacking or do you want a dog to be your personal body guard? The dog will do whatever you want and expect from it. If you train your dog to be your body guard he will respond to any signs of anxiety or fear from you and be triggered to attack. If you want a dog to be your security guard you will need to keep it away from other people outside of your family probably for the rest of its life. You will need a big property so it can at least get some exercise. As I said you cant expect a dog to be both If you're an anxious easily scared person the dog will you as the weak pack member and will have to take the dominant position. Some of these dogs eventually turn and bite you because you're empowering them to be the leader since you're emotional and mental state is not stable. My dog is the sweetest. I trust he will behave when I am around as I am the leader and he follows my lead. I am his protector not the other way around so he does not attack any dog or person. That means I also trust that if I am ever in a situation where he needs to protect me he will as part of his pack instinct. He bit someone who came to our house unannounced while I wasnt there. In contrast my dog trusts my leadership so much he allowed another dog to bite him on the nose because he trusted I would handle it (I did). An aggressive dog doesnt feel that the human is capable of leading. Dogs can be dangerous and you cannot allow a dog to be the leader.
@michaelg34635 жыл бұрын
Dogs can be trained be pets and protection dogs. Your information is outdated move with the times. I should know train dogs for protection and to be pets.
