How I Installed My CB Radio In My Jeep Commander!!

I could speak on this a lot. But it’s a good starter setup. I’d definitely nix the spring for many reasons. Based on the mount location, you’ll get better reception behind you than out front. BTW, you can’t fry the radios anymore unless it’s old school and has “crystals” in it. Your setup is very low power, so your range won’t be much at all. Most people running skip have a converted 10 meter radio, running a Linear A definitely a better antenna setup. Since I’m now a local, company driver most of my gear is packed up. Besides, in advent of Sirius/XM and smartphones there’s not much worth listening to on 1-9 anymore

Yeah, I just recently learned about the spring and that's my guess why I have so much adjustment in the antenna and I am unable to get closer to 1 on my SWR. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching.

@@ExtremeDailyDrivers my favorite fiberglass antenna is a Francis HotRod. And I preferred the 5.5’ length. It really does not need to be tuned. Another badass is 1/4 wave steel whip and you bow the tip forward when on the road BTW, a crappy coax can really affect the SWRs.

@@LujinCustom I haven't heard of that antenna. I'll look it up. Thanks. I should have mentioned in the video more about running the coax and to never kink it and to make sure you don't have any excess. I believe mine is solid and ran correctly.

Dude this is sick! We had a dune buggy growing up with a CB in it that had been installed by the previous owner but always liked it. I think this is perfect for off road vehicles and just a cool, useful and unique "somewhat" toy to have in there but I thought you were gonna go on the road and radio a trucker or cop to show off the toy.

They are really cool. Growing up a friend of mine had a base station in his bedroom. He lived near a busy road and we used to mess with truckers. It was a lot of fun and they still are. I would consider always having one. Especially when the apocalypse happens. 😉😆 Thanks for watching, JC.

Totally agree. Completely self sufficient system (CB). It’s very satisfying to put together and have it there ready to use! 😎👍🏻 Lots of fond memories playing with these with my friends, even before we were old enough to drive! Did you consider several CB options when deciding on that unit you have there? What made you choose that particular unit? Great content as always! 😎

I did a ton of research on cbs and cb setups. I chose the Andy 2 because of the size, price and positive reviews. I watched a couple of great review videos and have been very happy with it. I know everyone now uses GMRS and I do plan on installing one someday, but there's nothing wrong with having both options. It certainly doesn't hurt. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.

I’m rolling a cobra 29ltd classic with night watch… also have a 150 wt linear Amp on my 06 commander and I only use it in group rides and such… amp was installed to gain distance incase of emergency.. I don’t run it unless it’s emergency

I have a 2006 Commander and plan to install the Midland MT 575 gmrs radio in it. A great place to install it is under the steering wheel. Just pull that hinged panel down and there is a perfect spot to put it. That radio has the controls on the mic so you can bury the unit to keep it out of site. The mic also has a speaker in it.
