I’m currently investing around €500 a month in the s&p 500 and nasdaq 100, wish I could invest more or add real estate. But it’s difficult with 3 young children and a recently purchased house. Feels like it’s just not enough
@SmartMoneywithKai9 күн бұрын
Hi and first off, congrats, €500 to invest with 3 kids and paying off a mortgage is actually a respectable amount. Look we all want to invest more, I think that's good to have this drive and intention, I feel exactly the same when I look to others who invest say €10K a month, but it's not about competing with others but following your own game plan. Just stick with it and I am sure over time you'll be able to manage that number and further compound grow your portfolio. Keep up the great job 💪 Onwards and upwards 🚀 Cheers

Insightful video as always Kai. Do you invest on the first of every month?

Thanks a lot 🙌 I usually invest weekly, every Monday unless it's a 'very green' day, then I move it to Tuesday or Wednesday 😉

How do you track your real estate value? What about mortgages or did you buy in cash? 🙂
@SmartMoneywithKai3 күн бұрын
Hi I track it once a month in my net worth tracker sheet www.smartmoneywithkai.com/networth-tracker and once in a while I check the market value for it for similar properties and just add it there. Property bought without financing, only the last one though it's a small amount and I also track it in the same sheet 👌

Hello! How do you transfer your money from dirhams (as person living in UAE) to trading 212 (who accepts dollars only for investments) without comissions? Thanks! Great video

Hi and thanks a lot. I use Wio and convert AED to USD there and then transfer USD. With eToro it's even easier as I can use my Wio Credit card for instant and fee free USD deposits 👌

Great video again! Thanks for sharing! Any reason why you decided to be so heavily invested in US ? The last 70y have been exceptional for the US but not sure it will keep going. Goldman sachs predicts only 3% growth for sp500 until 2034. Why not investing in MSCI world (like SPYI)?
@SmartMoneywithKai8 күн бұрын
Hi Pierre and thanks a lot 🙌 Yes, this is indeed very concentrated in the US but I do that purposefully. I just can't see a scenario where the rest of the world over takes the top 500 US companies consistently. If S&P was to drop we would feel it globally, I doubt US drops and India or Japan all of a sudden boom. Plus those top 500 companies are by default diversified as they operate globally so if their China business is good this will reflect on their valuations. Plus many people outside the US are heading their risks and investments in the US as it's more transparent and understandable than investing in India or China and I lived in China. Those reports BTW are never accurate, many of those also said we should have a recession since a while 😉 I believe the future is tech and I can't see someone seriously outperforming US in that field, but that's just my humble opinion, if you prefer global diversification than MSCI world could be a good bet 👌

Since you are also German and are an active Revolut user, I was wondering if you know that Revolut has been advertising German users on their website with getting a German IBAN. Supposedly, customers signing up since 4th October have a German IBAN and support also told me they are migrating us to the German IBAN this month as well. Will this potentially also impact who our intermiediary broker is, and could this improve your rating of Revolut? I would love to see an update video about that. :)
@SmartMoneywithKai8 күн бұрын
Hi 👋 Thanks for the comment. Yes, Revolut's move to provide German IBANs is interesting. However, the IBAN change won't impact how they manage users' investments or who the intermediary broker is. It's more about aligning with local banking practices for convenience. I appreciate the suggestion for an update video-definitely something to consider 👌 Cheers, Kai

@@SmartMoneywithKai It also adds trust, especially since Germans are known to be sceptical to change and financial products in general. Revolut UAB is now not only covered by Lithuania‘s regulation body but also Germany‘s BaFin, and that means at least held hard cash value insured up to 100k. Though people need to be aware that this excludes the savings account. :)
@SmartMoneywithKai8 күн бұрын
Revolut users in Germany may indeed find increased trust with the addition of a German IBAN and oversight by BaFin, Germany’s financial regulator. However, Revolut UAB (the Lithuanian entity) is still regulated by the Bank of Lithuania, not BaFin. The key change is that newer German users and those being migrated will have accounts under a German IBAN, but insurance up to €100k under the EU deposit guarantee scheme remains tied to Lithuanian protection. It's also true that the €100k protection applies to cash balances in your account, but it does not cover Revolut’s savings vaults or investments. Those are separate from the deposit guarantee.
@superclownfisch8 күн бұрын
@@SmartMoneywithKai Isn‘t a German IBAN de facto tied to German regulation and it identifying as a German entity, and thus resulting the German branch with a German address to 100k insurance? Afaik, one cannot get a German IBAN without at least a German partner bank providing it
@SmartMoneywithKai3 күн бұрын
You're correct-Revolut now provides German IBANs to users, but they’re still technically under the regulatory umbrella of Revolut’s Lithuanian banking license. Despite the German IBAN, Revolut accounts remain insured through Lithuania's deposit insurance scheme, which covers up to €100,000 per account holder under Lithuanian regulations, not German. So, while having a German IBAN might suggest a link to German banking, Revolut's banking license and deposit insurance remain tied to Lithuania. This setup allows them to issue local IBANs while keeping regulatory and insurance arrangements centralized in Lithuania.
