I've been reading 'Poor Charlies Almanac' this week, and at a certain point he states: 'What makes capitalism work is the fact that if you’re an able-bodied young person, if you refuse to work, you suffer a fair amount of agony, and because of that agony, the whole economic system works.' I guess that's one of the main issues in Europe. Life has been good, but hard work isn't rewarded enough! And refusing to work is rewarded too much! Never been to the USA, but I assume it's a bit different there.

Many factories in Europe are closing due to high energy costs, Also now there’s Chinese Car/Trucks competition, Ford’s CEO recently stated China builds 4 cars to our 1 and China is 2-4 years ahead in AI. There’s an Aging population. Think the future could be bleak for Europe

I think these kind of future reading is very short sighted. When problems arise, people find solutions. If they don't, they suffer and then... they find solutions. Countries make mistakes and misjudgments, can find themselves in bad energy situations, there can be more competition arising, population can be aging... All of these have solutions. The correct mindset is to focus on problem solving and working towards a goal. Believe me. Every thing has a solution. My country was in its worse situation in its last 600 years. We fought many major wars and had no economy, no population, no industry, no guns. We lost WW1, yet refused to surrender by sheer willpower. We fought and won an independence war against major world powers. The guy who rebuilt our country and is "the father" for us said many wise words but one inspiring example is this: "There are no desperate situations. There are desperate people. I have never lost my hope".

Bought today one brick more to my bond funds, the price was right... Maybe not best brick possible for profit & 10 year stretch... but a good brick to lay foundation on, when waiting other houses to crash.

My opinion: struggle to see inflation quite high in the future in Europe, when you got declining demographics/low productivity/lack of innovation/limited government deficit due to already high debt levels. For sure ECB and European governments wish that to inflate the debt, but tough unless new macro-shocks occur like the one we had with covid...

That must be why you're ok with French companies because Europe likely has an agreement to avoid double taxation of capital gains. I only invest in European companies that don't double tax my gains.

Good to learn the lesson, but it was shocking.

The sooner investors, specifically the young, accept that wealth building is a marathon, not a race, the more peace of mind they will have. Stay away from the "quick money" but if you can't, be smart enough to take profits and reinvest those profits into solid companies with 40 year outlooks. We all have to eat and stay warm and live somewhere. That will never go away.

How do You think CRH would perform beside the companies in Your graph? I had since last year the Irish CRH and after their move to NY stock and jump in the price I collected. Now I still think it’s a good buy, even if they are a bit more expensive. It’s rather conservative and at the moment tech still rocks (more or less).

Well... My country is in the EU and has 9% deficit this year and is targeting 7% next year (that's optimistic, they targeted 6% this year). So 3% is BS, what they say and what they do are very different things.

I like to have some euro-denominated shares as a hedge. Everything's a bargain because the French and Germans need to hold elections. Canal+ just floated on the French market and its well-undervalued. I bought some yesterday and it went up 8% overnight.

Everybody keeps saying that Europe is done for. I don't buy that. I am not blind though and do see that there are issues in the economy. However, EU will bounce back as it has always done. Until then, good european companies are still here that are undervalued which is an opportunity in my opinion.

I work in the chemical industry in Europe and we're getting killed on energy prices and to be more specific energy distribution costs. It's never been so bad, even worse than 2008. An example from our CEO...our competitors built a plant in the US and got over 200M$ in subsidies for that one plant. We got 0. It's hard to compete with that. European leaders are asleep behind the wheel and turning Europe into a museum.
