My oldest will be in 3rd grade next year which is when TT starts, we can't wait to use it! We've used Abeka Math these past few years which is a bit ahead and she's done well with it, but I've always known we'd switch to TT eventually because Im not a good "Math person" and I want her to get it! 😊 This video is super encouraging!!

We absolutely LOVE TT! We started it as soon as my kid was ready. My 1st grader is waiting impatiently to start TT too. I just found out that at least 4 mamas in my co-op uses TT too. As a homeschooling mom, it makes you feel better when you know other families are using the same curriculum as you, like you said, positive reinforcement (we need it too lol)

Oh my! Maybe it's time to try this. My daughter is in 4th grade this year. We have been taking too long in math since last year. Like, 2 hours just for math. So, we got IXL to go with it. Even with IXL, she'd rather just do that than try to figure out the math for TGTB. And, that's even with a video lesson. I'm going to have her try the free trial. Thank you for this video.

We're a year or so away from aging into online curriculum but I really hope it works for us for math. We've done Math U See and she did well but it was a fight to get her to start. Right now we're doing Master Books and like it a lot.

Thank you for sharing this video. We’ve been using Saxon Math. My daughter told me that she needed a different curriculum because she needs to practice more before she move forward with something new. We’ve been working on the placement tests to see where she is. I was thinking 🤔 on this one and Ace accelerated Christian curriculum. This came just in time. Thank you so much.

We’ve been using teaching textbooks since we quit TGTB math. My children really disliked doing TGTB math everyday and there were tears more days than not. They were so overwhelmed with all the pieces and having me there talking and talking and then trying to read (dyslexia) the directions and just not understanding any of it. It was soo exhausting right away and TT was a breath of fresh air!! My kids don’t struggle so much and they love having snacks while they work on a lesson all bundled in a blanket and relaxed with the calmness of it all.

We used masterbooks first for math from prek. We were taking FOREVER for math and so many tears. (Now i believe my son has adhd inattentive type and all the hands on was so distracting and frustrating for him) we changed to christian light education math and he loved it being new and different but quickly hated the bookwork and the flash cards. So after halfway through that, we moved to math with confidence and he has taken off. He loves the games and activities that each lesson comes with. However we still use place value village for a lot of the math because it did make sense to him and gave him a solid foundation for place value and number sense. So now we use a blend. Im curious about teaching textbooks because so many go from masterbooks to teaching textbooks. (Also i dont enjoy math and would love to outsource something so maybe i need to look into it. Id love a comparison for masterbooks, math with confidence, and teaching textbooks.

Are you planning to go over your curriculum choices from last year, what worked well? I've seen what you chose and wondered how you liked everything. For 7th grade

Hey there! Quick question on the higher math levels where the students need to know formulas. Do you have the kids write this down and take notes or how does your student keep up with that using TT?

Hi friend. I am considering Teaching Textbooks for next year because the curriculum we use now brings my son to tears and takes way too long. He has ADHD and High functioning Autism. Would this be a good program for someone like him in your opinion. We’d be doing level 6. Do you know if that comes with a teacher’s guide or answer key? Thanks for your video! 😊

Hi there! First, I would try the free trail with your son and see how he does with it. You can do that here: u.teachingtextbooks.com/Free_Trial_AM4_29_24 Next, I would suggest emailing TT and asking them, they'd be able to answer this question better than I can. But I can tell you that we love it and we've had no tears since we switched over. ❤️

My son is in 6th grade and is also high functioning autistic. He has some learning disabilities as well, so we are a few levels below grade level. We have used a few different math curriculums that were good, but not quite what was working best for him. He started using teaching textbooks about 4 months ago, so we are still very new to the curriculum. I can tell you that we love it so far!! It has been working great for him. The lessons are so manageable and he has enjoyed it! I really like that you can do the lessons online or on paper (if you print it out). We do a mix of both, but he mostly uses his Kindle. It is great b/c he can do a lesson in the car on the go! He also really likes that he immediately gets positive feedback (Great! Good job!, You’ve got it!) when he gets the problem correct.

My son with ADHD does teaching textbooks and it’s really good for him. You get a little gif type sticker after each problem and that helps.

There is a textbook you can view and also an answer key.

My son has ADHD and high-functioning ASD as well, and TT has been WONDERFUL. We tried several math programs before this and none went very well. He is a strong auditory learner, so having everything read out loud helps him a lot. He has learned so much and retains it. The one thing I did last year that helped was lessen the number of problems he had to do. 27 or so is a lot, imo. So I used the answer key and just put in some answers ahead of time, and he did the rest. Often, they will give you maybe 4 of the same kind of problem. I only made him do 1 or 2, as long as it wasn't something he struggled with (which was basically nothing because it teaches so well and incrementally and has tons of review). I highly recommend trying the free trial and seeing how it goes! Good luck :-)

With TT, How do you ensure that when they miss problems and view the solution that they are understanding? I’m afraid my kids would just click view solution and mindlessly watch the video without understanding. Do you make thego back and correct on paper or how does this work?

When we used TT I would delete every problem my student got wrong and the first thing they would do when starting math the next day would be to redo all the deleted questions. If they scored below 90% on an exam I would delete all the lessons between the last exam and the one they scored >90% and they would redo all the lessons. I only had to do that a handful of times because having them view the solution of missed problems and redoing them ensured that their test scores stayed high. If they scored between 90%-99% one their quizzes/exams, then like their daily work, I would delete the missed problems for them to redo the next day at the start of math. So my kids kept a 100% on every lesson and test. My kids loved TT. I used a different program this year because they were both on the last level of TT and I was afraid it may be a difficult jump to start calculus and a new curriculum. Looking back I wish I had gone ahead and done the last level of TT this year anyway despite my appreciation for our current curriculum. There is just something fun and familiar with TT that the kids really enjoyed even if they had a difficult math day.
