My prediction is there will for sure be a new dimension, but they will take their time creating it. Mojang tends to think stuff through and go slow with the updates. 1-3 years from now is a reasonable time. They wont just rush and do it quickly, idk why people thought that would be the case.

*MUST READ* The story line if the *ANCIENT* city: someone opened the portal, while that portal was opened, the skulk started to spread. This player enters and starts to explore although it is scary. He pushes through and realises this is not a place for anyone to be. That's why you hear so much breathing. He tries to get to the portal but he wakes the warden and he tries to run. He either escaped and closed the portal forever(until someone can open it) or he is in there trapped. I believed he got out and that's why the netherite armour exists cuz he forged it by discovering *ANCIENT* debris in the nether. The skulk sensors are warnings. What u hear in the background are other creatures

They didn’t add a new dimension, in the snapshots, (pre update versions) which means they won’t add it in the official update, just like what happened. but maybe in 1.20 they will…

I completely agree tbh. unless they plan on adding new biomes to the end instead. but we all know a new portal is really what they need before they start running out of stuff to add. Because let's face it, they can't keep doing this small stuff forever. it's only gonna get them so far. the updates are getting a little repetitive not that's it's a bad thing, still a new dimension is what they need...the only thing that concerns me is..will we have to kill the warden to get to the other dimension? because that would be a problem for the smaller players...
