How I landed an internship at Nike Headquarters! The entire interview process + my 4 tips!

In this video I describe the job application process for getting an internship as a procurement analyst intern at Nike in Beaverton, Oregon, also known as Nike's World Headquarters (WHQ), where Drake made the music video for "Laugh Now, Cry Later." I also give a few tips that I think would be helpful to know if you are thinking about applying for an internship or full-time role at Nike, whether it is in computer science or shoe design. Hey bro! Yes, I think you have a chance. I’m not extremely familiar with the electrical engineering roles in particular, but I think you should reach out to a recruiter and/or apply anyway. Never hurts to apply. Also, even for other non-engineering roles you have a shot because some positions appreciate when you have a diverse background. When I worked at Nike, I met biology majors and law graduates with JD degrees in the procurement department (which are very unrelated). As for skills required to break through, it depends on the position you apply for. When you apply, make sure the key words from the job description written on the application are reflected in your resume. For example, an analyst position might say they want analytical skills. Then, it would be beneficial to have Tableau or PowerBI, or similar analytical program skills on your resume. Check out this “How We Hire” link to know about all the details of how they hire: jobs.nike.com/how-we-hire Also, since you’re from India, I don’t know if they sponsor work visas to the US, but I feel like it doesn’t hurt in applying or asking a recruiter. Make sure your LinkedIn is top notch and then message a recruiter and ask if you would be a fit for whatever role you’re looking into. I noticed there’s also a recruiter in the Bengaluru office which may be easier (Siddharth Janardhan). But if you want an American recruiter, just look up Nike Recruiter on LinkedIn and message one of them. As for your point about not having experience: if you have any experience at all in a leadership position, maybe at an organization at your college, that counts as experience. Or maybe if you’re a volunteer for some organization. You need to write some experience in your resume or they will not hire you. Even if you work at Starbucks, you can frame your bullet points in your resume to reflect your analytical or good work skills.

What to wear for Nike interview?

So I applied for this internship in 2019 and my interview was in person. They recommended Nike shoes, so I wore blue Nike gym shoes, but a suit jacket, dress shirt, and tie as well as khakis. So I did business casual. I would recommend asking the recruiter so you have the most correct answer, but in my opinion, dress very professional

Yes, I know you do get access to the gym on campus. My internship was in 2020 so it became remote but you definitely get access to cool facilities.

Yes, I believe you have a chance! However, note that not all companies in America sponsor visas for international students or residents, so depending on which Nike job you apply to, they may or may not sponsor you. As for the field of study you have selected, it seems you’d be a great fit for Nike!

@@logical_question Currently there are no internship roles open that I see on the world headquarters location in the US: jobs.nike.com/internships. I believe the ones for that location will probably open in the next month or so, but when I was an intern, I think the majority or all interns were from US-based universities in 2020. I could be wrong, however. Perhaps check if there are other worldwide Nike locations with a internship role you’d be interested in on jobs.nike.com. I see there are other intern opportunities in countries like Germany. When you click onto specific intern job openings, you’ll see what that role’s degree and skills requirements are. That being said, I believe you should apply and network with Nike recruiters on LinkedIn regardless of whether or not you meet all of the criteria. As long as there’s SOME overlap, I personally think you should try.
