I’ve followed a few fragrance KZbinrs for a while now, and you’re honestly one of the ONLY ones who gives proper advice on how to layer (pairing creamy + bright, heavy + light, reasons for such layering combos, etc). Many others i’ve seen just brings up bottles that they have, with little to no explanations on why they do so, and only saying how “great” they smell together. Thank you for this video!

I actually agree with you. I have watched many and they only give combos, yet the title say how to layer. Most ppl would think layering is adding on top of each other. That can work, however many times some scents will clash and cancel out each other and then you don't really smell anything.

Notes from Josephine gave me the best way to layer and it really works and I can smell both scents. Her technique is to spray one scent on one side and the other on another side. Some scents don't work well with strong scented Lotions. So I always have a non scented lotion that I use when I only want to smell the scents I'm wearing

One of my go to combos are actually powerhouses on their own... it is Matiere Premiere Radical Rose paired with Diptyque Eau Rihla. Somehow they tone each other down to something very soothing and extremely wearable.

Vanilla Vibes has been my absolute QUEEN for breaking up density in heavier fragrances. Also, Commodity Milk + is my goat for adding woody, marshmallow vibes. And just so the man on the moon can smell me, I use Delina on my upper torso and Mancera Roses Vanille on my lower body. Chef’s kiss. Great video!! Love all the advice!

Pink Sugar/By the Fireplace: my ultimate winter gourmand Pink Sugar/Atelier Pacific Lime: lovely bright summer happiness I also love Vanilla 28/Guerlain Mandarine Basilic together and MH Lumiere Doree with Lavanila Pure Vanilla Wow, I could go on and on. I find if you buy a "young" bottle of By the Fireplace it tends (to my nose) to have an acrid edge and layering it with something sweeter is good (SdJ Cheirosa '62 is delicious as well). If you allow it to age or just buy an older bottle from a grey market site, it is richer and sweet enough on its own. As for a s'more scent, maybe aged BtF layered with a chocolate fragrance? Ok...now I need a chocolate fragrance😂

Philosophy Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere layers SO good with everything I have! I recently bought a dupe for Mon Guerlain (Guess Seductive Black Noir), and with Warm Cashmere oh my LORD its GORGEOUS! I also recently purchased Valentino Born In Roma Intense and JPG Scandal Le Parfum Intense, both are phenomenal stand alones, BIR Intense is ambery jasmine benzoin vanilla, and Scandal Le Parfum is very similar to Hypnotic Poison EDT (i can't stand the EDP) but lactonic, a caramel note, and waaaay longer lasting! However, if i add one or two spritzes of Warm Cashmere to them, omg i pass away it is SO YUMMY!!!

My favorite combo for the winter time is Philosophy Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere and Ariana Grande Cloud! Definitely on the heavier side for me, but it smells so delicious and decadent.

One of my fave combos is Kayali’s Vanilla Royale and Kilian Angel’s Share. I know. It sounds like it would be heavy and thick and crazy, but it’s so good.

One fragrance that I found that I LOVE is AG Cloud and Cheirosa ‘62 by Sol De Janeiro. Never would’ve tried that mix if I didn’t already own both but I think they elevate each other nicely! Cheirosa ‘62 also pairs well with The Bee by Ellis Brooklyn.

The Ysl is lovely with Born in Roma - I put Ysl all over and then a mist of Roma on my clothes and it smells like fresh laundry dried in the hot sun in a field of lavender. Also - a designer fragrance I love that reminds me a little of Roma, that you might like, is Lancôme Idole Aura. The Aura flanker has that same sunshiney quality - airy and sweet.

Billie the original goes well with untamed bare vanilla by VS as well as bare vanilla or (Kayali vanilla) all layered on Nemat amber oil 🫶🏼

I love putting different fall/wintery scents together even though they might be heavier. Like Angel's Share (for the cinnamon aspect), Whispers in the Library (for the Woody pepperyness), and Smoky Mountain Mallow by Solstice Scents (smokey marshmallowness) created a very cozy warm scent!

I love mixing sunny side up with clean reserve radiant nectar, radiant nectar is very sweet on me and the sunny side up adds some dryness to balance it better for me. I also mix my Casino royale (BR540dupe) with kenzo world power edt. Adds a nice rose/ peony note to the casino royale. So pretty.

Boardwalk Delight from Skylar is one of my favs to layer with a heavier, deeper vanilla to make it more spring/summer appropriate! My pillar vanilla is Vanille Absolu from Montale, I cannot get enough of that vanilla scent.

I've been doing Scentbird lately and when I get a perfume that I feel is TOO smokey or TOO woody - I like pairing them with one of my fragrances that is more sweet. Like taking a dry woodsy perfume & adding a sticky vanilla to it really helps me get use out of fragrances that I feel are missing something.

Generally speaking, I rarely layer. But lately I've been dabbling because of some blind buys. I layer that Kay Ali Vanilla Royale with much sweeter vanilla's (so Nest's Madagascar Vanilla or Vanilla 28) just because I don't like it on its own. I layer Dior's Oud Isphan with Nest's Madagascar Vanilla and I enjoy that ESPECIALLY in the fall and winter. When I'm in the mood, I like to layer Dior's Midnight Poison with Xerjoff Fars. Blanche Bete with Navitus Chocolate Queen is a nice combo too.

Great video! I loved your combos. I also like to use By the Fireplace to add smokiness to other scents, and I also like to pair a sweeter scent, usually a vanilla, with Autumn Vibes. A favorite summer combo of mine is Burberry Brit Her, a lime dominant fragrance, with L’Artisan Couleur Vanille, a salted vanilla and one you should sample for summer if you haven’t tried it before. The combo results in sort of a lime margarita salted rim kinda vibe. As the queen of vanillas that you are, I think you’d approve of Couleur Vanille; it’s unique from any other vanillas I’ve tried plus the bottle is gorgeous and it’s perfect for layering.

I love these type of videos and am all about experimenting with layering and coming up with different scent combinations!! I start always with shower products, then whatever dry oil/creams and then the fragrance. It’s amazing how much taking these extra steps make your fragrances last and it’s fun to combine different fragrances to come up with your own individual scent!! I have dry skin and was never a big fan of oil though, but I’ve found some amazing ones from brands like Skin Potions (Karma Sutra is the best and becomes like a chameleon that works with so many fragrances), the new Bum Bum oil and Daukens Aroma makes some amazing oils that smell amazing and are true dry oils!! Daukens has an amazing Lira knockoff called Caramel Glacé and the oil, fragrance…beyond amazing!! This was a great list and I hope you come up with more ideas!!

One of my favorite layers recently has been Baccarat and Sundazed by Byredo. The airy, burnt sugar/woody scent of BR and the cotton candy, citrus, and musk of Sundazed is so good together.

I recently fell in love with Zara Bohemian Oud and it layers so well with other frag. I thought Commodity Book was too dry and woody on it's own. But with Bohemian Oud, it becomes a sweet chocolatey woody 🍫 goodness! And last night, I paired it with Zara Red Temptation (which I wasn't loving) and they worked so well together too ❤

Lately I’ve been layering not a perfume with winter spirit from Skylar! I’m trying to get all the wear that I can out of winter spirit while it’s still cold enough. But I find that not a perfume tones down the heaviness of winter spirit without totally killing it because I do love a good heavy scent but it just makes it a little bit more subtle :)

That new YSL Libre Parfum is soo good for it being a more mainstream perfume. I also really like the new Paco Robane perfume too... and Paradoxe too. Some of the scents I layer: Eos vanilla lotion with mon guerlian and I’ll dab an Arab oil that smells like cookies! A perfect cozy scent. Hemp pineapple melon lotion, VS pineapple cove body spray (when I had it) kajal by Lamar green pineapple, creamy coconut, tropical! Trader Joe’s body butter bum bum dupe, VS tease sugar fleur. You’ve got the creamy, caramel, apple. Salt air Black tide body wash, Versace bright crystal…pink. It’s a combo of masculine, soapy, fresh. AG 2.0, AG cloud body spray, eos vanilla cashmere. The body spray adds a freshness to the creamy sweetness of the lotion and perfume.

My Juliette has a Gun is a base fragrance for me that goes so many different ways depending on where you want to head. Another base I use a ton is Clean Reserve Skin... I love Phlur missing person too. And I love mixing scents with my Tom Ford's Ombre Leather just makes so many perfumes deep and sexy for night you can go foral, sweet, gourmad anyway really.

I've had HOS Mickey Mouse just sitting on my shelf for over a year because there's this dill quality that was really bothering me, but I kept it for the bottle. My family was on vacation and I wanted to wear something at the pool so I decided to pair mickey with girl of now. The girl of now masks any of the dill I was getting from mickey and the mickey cuts the sticky sweetness from girl of now that can sometimes feel a bit too cloying. It seemed like a weird combo, but I figured I'd give it a shot and now I'm really enjoying both fragrances.

I haven’t really tried any yet! I have tried some different scents with oud and do like some of them but I tend to like more synthetic smoother oud then super animalic oud! Definitely a category I need to explore more!
