You are definitely N4+ btw!! Let me recommend 総まとめ (sou matome)! They have jlpt books for reading, listening, grammar, vocab and kanji, and they are made so that every day is one double side, and you will finish one textbook in like 2 months, so technically in 2 months you should pass that JLPT level, but only if you do all textboons at once. Anyways, the grammar and kanji ones are SO good, especially the N1 Kanji one, because they group kanji very well, so that it’s easy to remeber them, because similar ones have similar chinese pronounciation (for 音声漢字, onsei kanji, the radicals 部首form meaning and the phonetic component 音符 onpu give a hint how to pronounce it!) anyways sorry for all that unasked information, Have fun studying!!

I’m learning Japanese too, but rather semi-passively. For the first 3 years I simply saw and heard a lot of Japanese online and gradually picked up bits of knowledge about the language and Japan in general. The fact that I mostly listen to Japanese music and sincerely take interest in every kanji I come across plays a crucial role here. Over the past year, I realized that my Japanese learning no longer falls under the definition of ‘passive’ and decided to install Anki, as well as started watching more grammar videos (I generally like grammar). Learning the language is not my goal, but I’m genuinely fascinated by Japanese. I think if I continue in the same spirit, I’ll start feeling comfortable with the language in about 6 years.

People quick to sprint this stuff, but we are all trying to do different things with it in the end. Good to hear this take.

Have you heard of Cure Dolly for Japanese grammar? I have found their explanations to be very helpful in understanding difficult grammar points.

your pronunciation is pretty good!!! if you want to perfect your accent i have a tip for you!! it might be hard to hear the differences, but learning pitch accent early on is good!! you dont have to focus heavily on it, but it will make your japanese sound really good!!

syllables (consonants) without dakuten and handakuten are the unvoiced consonants and adding dakuten and handakuten makes them voiced.

Kinda wish the Japanese speech was in the beginning of the video, as it's a good way to gauge how well someone speaks in the target language

I have a N64 and got 動物の森... the main issue with that game is that each animal character end sentences like the animal itself making super confusing if you're just getting started.

Not hating on you, Infact it's great how far you've come for real, but these videos i hate so much Here's how i learned Japanese in 1 year!! Step 1: i dicked around on duolingo for 2 months Step 2: i went to school to study Japanese. like yeah no shit you learned Japanese, what other outcome did you expect? to come out with better German? Reminds me of another video where the title was like "How i learned Japanese playing video games" and in the video he was like "yeah i started with FF7, it was pretty hard, i had to look up a lot of stuff, so anyways then i went to university for Japanese" its so fucking cringe. Your Japanese speaking is very good though, a lot of people including myself don't output much at all until year 3+ so if you keep this up and make sure your pitch accent is really good, you will zoom past people who've been doing self study with wanikani/anki etc
