This video is insanely good. It reminds me of the old Friday Features that made me a fan of this channel in the first place. When Rob discusses something he's passionate about, it's impossible not to go on that emotional journey with him. His writing here is top notch, and his *delivery* is absolutely perfect. I never got all that far into Bloodborne myself, and I doubt I'll ever finish it, because I just didn't find it that enjoyable, but it's absolutely wonderful that Rob was able to finally figure out the game and break through that mental barricade. This is gonna be one of those videos that I share with people when I try to get them interested in PS Access. It's excellent.

Thank you for this, Rob. I love hearing you talk about video games and I could listen to you for hours. This video essay, especially resonated with me because the way you described your journey through this game felt so similar to my own real life struggle with depression since April 2020 til now. The part where you admitted that you were an enemy to yourself and the cause of your own decent into darkness and despair, refusing help etc. That is exactly how I have been too. The final take-away from this is that no matter how big your challenge or how hopeless it feels, you can always overcome it and be ok eventually. Your Robservations" are timeless and applicable to real life as well as being generally awesome. Thank you so much! God bless you.

And you have in your expert way summarised why I absolutely love this genre. That feeling of overcoming your doubt, of overcoming your self and not giving up, pushing through to that victory. That's why soulsborne games just click with me. Yes it's punishing but each time you are learning, growing, getting better and better until you finally smash your way through that barrier and achieve your goal. Bloodborne is my favorite video game ever, I even own all of the Bloodborne board game that just released (You should totally play that on a stream sometime with the gang when you know, social distancing is over. Seriously you should see the minatures of the bosses!) I also feel that honestly, Rob even though this was about Bloodborne you gave out a message that a lot of people needed to hear, including me.

What a brilliant game! I'm glad you finally got to enjoy it, Rob. It was the game the got me to love the souls/borne series. I remember that I didn't like DS1 when I first tried it many, many years ago, but Bloodborne changed all that. The souls/borne-series is now up there with the likes of Zelda, Final Fantasy and MGS as my favourite franchises. And to my surprise Bloodborne was my first ever platinum.

As someone who struggles with anxiety in multiple areas, this video spoke to me. I am truly grateful that you were able to take something I love (video games) and make it into something that could help me in other areas as well. I've already shared it with someone else who is also struggling with anxiety. I hope it helps them too!

Not too long ago I installed bloodborne and played through a little bit of it , I knew that it was hard but I still dived in and tried to play it , I unfortunately ended up deleting it out of pure frustration ( I am not proud of this ) Edit : I recently reinstalled it and I am up to Rom the spider

This...this is what I can never get across to people. "It's just a game." Well yeah, but also no. There is so much more, emotion and personal growth and self reflection. The greatest strides I've ever made in my life were all accompanied by amazing games.

The ending to this had me welling up. Rob's writing just keeps getting better and it was already amazing. Roberys' journey inspired me to start Bloodborne and I popped the Platinum earlier today. Thank you Rob, can't wait to see you and Roberys finish the adventure you started 6 years ago. A Hunter is never alone.
